I've never driven a Dacia, been in one though, a Dacia Logan and it felt terrible to sit in, like being thrown back into a bottom of the range car from the mid 1990's in terms of build quality.
My first Taxi from Bucharest airport was in an LPG converted Dacia. My god I thought I was going to die.

You obv know nothing about cars if you think a fiesta ecoboost is a bad drive.
You're just not getting it are you it's the worst car I have driven. If the only other car I have driven is better how is it an incorrect statement?
You don't know me so nothing of what I know about cars. Your metrics for rating a car could and most likely are be different to mine. So again IT IS THE WORST CAR I HAVE DRIVEN. Get it yet.

Going back quite a few years now but a Honda Accord with a 1.6 or 1.8 but auto box. Super high revving engine which was continually strangled by the auto box changing up so you never really got any power from the high rev range.

Almost great cars but Nissan Almera 2.0 GTi. Great engine but soft suspension and TERIBLE brakes from what I remember unless the one I drove was particularly bad.

Should have hated the Proton saloon I was given. The blandest car I ever drove but cost next to nothing to run. Used old Mitsubishi tech so was reliable and could be left anywhere unlocked and not worry about it disappearing.

1992 Rover Metro 1.1

Belonged to my parents and I learned to drive in it. At 8 years old it was stolen/recovered and repaired on the cheap.

  • The steering column was bent so you was met with extra resistance at certain positions when turning the wheel.
  • The wipers didn't go back to the "down" position when switched off, they just stopped in the position you turned them off in.
  • They never serviced it. Sometimes you pushed the accelerator down and it would splutter and not go anywhere.
  • Cronic rust. Had to be welded several times and was eventually scrapped at 10 years old.
  • Boot locking mechanism had seized up. Sometimes you would think that the boot was closed only for it to open randomly when driving.
  • It was a Metro so crap to start with.

I think where a lot of the older cars struggled was auto boxes with 4 speed boxes etc. Some of these compared to modern cars, wow. My Xedos box is a 4 speed and although I love the car for being weird the box is NOT the best... you really do need 5 speed in an auto but in the 90's, most were probably 4 and the tech really basic and weirdly implemented ratios don't help lol

Have you only driven two cars then? :D
Actually no. MK2 Fiesta XR2 (track car), Mazda RX8 x2, Mazda RX7, Ford Focus MK1, BMW 3 Series, Ford Escort RS Turbo S2, Audi A3, Ford Mondeo Mk5, Mazda 3.
I've preferred all of those when it comes to driving them than the said Fiesta Ecoboost.

It’s hardly a bad car is it?
Not really worthy of posting in a bad car thread!
In fact it’s actually regarded as one of the best driving small hatchbacks so maybe you’re in the wrong place here.

From your list above I imagine it’s the car you took your test in? (Last week)

The thread isn't titled, "what do you think is a bad car" is it?

You'd imagine incorrectly.

I also didn't say it was necessarily a bad car. But again that's not what this thread is and again your failing to comprehend that. I've had enough trying to explain this, The End.

I’ve had one for 3 years and that’s a fair comment on the interior fittings, upholstery and general fit/finish of the non-Renault bits. It all works, but you have to embrace the odd squeak, rattle and the doors having a somewhat Soviet view on engineering tolerances.

Rather to be expected when the base mode is £3k cheaper than the base model Ford Fiesta.

That's good then, because this isn't a "bad car" thread. It's the "worst car you have driven" thread. It's entirely subjective depending on the poster. It's not a contradiction to claim that a fundamentally good car is the worst one you've driven.
How are you unable to grasp this?

For me, it's probably the Toyota Aygo, and I've driven a few of them as courtesy cars. They aren't particularly bad cars, but it just so happens that every other car I've driven has been better.

Vauxhall Mokka X I had as a rental. Hateful thing with no power.
Parked it like it has been abandoned when I gave it back I was so keen to get out of it. Back was hurting for days afterwards too.

The bloody Fiesta is a great little car to drive!
Yes I get the anal meaning of the thread but he’s WRONG. There’s nothing bad about the way they drive.
So much other crap out there that actually belongs in this thread.

So, you don't then do you? If you got the meaning of the thread, how can what he said possibly be wrong?

He didn't say it was bad in absolute terms. Just every other car he's driven is better :p

7 seems the sweet spot to me though probably depends a bit vehicle to vehicle. The auto in my Navara has been good, only one time in 10s of thousands of miles it hasn't been flawless.

EDIT: Though not sure it was the auto - possibly that tank of fuel wasn't great - it ran a bit weird like it was lean around that point.

Out of interest, why? Which 7 speed gearbox made you think that?

I can think of few true automatic gearboxes which are 7 in the first place (Most popular 7 speed transmissions are actually dual clutch transmissions) - the only mainstream one one that springs to mind is the Mercedes 7G Tronic and there are not many people who'll argue it was better than the 9G tronic. For most there was a jump from 6 to 8.

The game changer was the ZF8HP which, even 13 years after it first appeared, is still arguably the finest automatic transmission in any car.
