WOW's addictiveness.....................

Just seen this on an American WoW forum about recruiting into the current world best guild, although it is fairly old:

I do feel genuinely sorry for these people as they must be so messed up in real life, addiction isnt the word!

OMG!

So what the annual salary with that? Decent company car?

I have been playing WoW for quite a while now and remember doing it through my GCSE's instead of revising, so you could say I was somewhat addicted; although I was lucky and still got good grades.

I have recently started to cut back on the amount I play this game, more than anything its the community and being in a Good Guild with Set raid times etc which causes people to play it so long. However those who die over the game obviously have some serious issues - how can you dehydrate at a PC, you go and get a drink...

I have one friend though who is completely addicted, to the point where he wont go out if he is Raiding etc. I think the only times he does go out is to go to college 2 days a week and to get food. I think me and another friend waiting 20 minutes for him to complete a boss in Zul'Gurub before he would come out with us.

Yes WoW is a fun game (once you are level 60 at least) but when you are raiding for 3 hours or more thats plain stupid. I would much rather be £9/Month better off. :)

Playing with mates has me hooked, when its 1am and everyone has nothing to do logging in and having general fun makes the game great.

Me and my guild took this guy on, me being the highest level at 42, with 8 of us... we answered our question that boss was harder than elite the hard way...

Nah, couldn't get into WOW at all. Also tried Guild Wars and Eve. Online RPG is not my thing. I play CSS about 2 hours everyday, but only when the missus aren't around otherwise I get an earful.

a Colleague at work wife had a serious WOW addiction where she would play about 35 hours at a time, sleep a few hours and then get back for the next session. He was also the sole provider. He left her, she signed on for benefits and still continues her wicked ways.

Well I've been in good guilds and left when I screwed up my character transfer. I've now levelled another character to 60 and have just joined a good guild who have BWL on farm, starting AQ40 properly and just getting attuned with naxxramas. I go out every tuesday, play badminton on wednesday and friday. I raid a lot, but also go out e.g. last saturday I went to southport for the day with a few friends then went back to their house to watch rugby.

At the end of the day, I enjoy warcraft. If people want to play it every night of the week then that's their choice. To them, going out wasting £60 a night on booze + spending silly amounts on clothes is to them what heavy wow players are to you (who think it's silly and that these players have no lives). They enjoy it as much as you like going out getting lashed. To be honest, I got bored of "going round town" before I was 20. Sure I like it every know and then, but doing it every week is just so boring. Atleast with WoW there's new content every once in a while + new items :p.

I think ive gotta quit this game actually, played it far too much over the last few weeks. Its great fun but really not healthy.

wish id spent as long in the gym as i had on wow

i'm addicted aswell, and i'm happy that i am

i managed to take an extended leave of absence from the game for my exams etc for about four months, i never planned to quit entirely, but i love my guild and all the friends i ahve made through it, what say it really is important to ahve a good guild in the game, i'm lucky to be in mine where it's more raiding casual where we're not about the material rewards

but it does eat free time like no tomorrow, and my interest in other things is dwindling, time for another leave of absence from the game tbh

A broken leg has basically killed my social life for the time being, so my raid attendance has gone through the roof, I'm enjoying at to be honest even though no epic 2h weapons have dropped yet.

*shakes fist at Hakkar*

as soon as I'm better I'll be back training and going out so won't be doing many raids,Ill just be trying to keep a happy medium between social life and WoW/gaming (with Real life taking precedence obviously)

I am not sorry to say that I am addicted to this game and every day that passes it gets more intense.I never immagined to be so intrigued in this game when i started my lvl60 rogue.Joining one of our top server guilds helped me a lot advance and achieve lots of exp, gear and beating encounters i never immagined. We are currently doing Naxxramas Spider Wing and i must say its one of those intances where you need some really good preparation.

After doing ZG,MC,BWL,AQ40 i just look forward to TBC and go for lvl70 :D

I'd still argue it's only addictive if you let it be, same with many games.
I used to play CS for 10-12hrs a day, but i knew it wasn't healthy and I knew I was doing so as an escape from some crap going on in my life at the time, I was just letting it take over for a while.
Just a matter of willpower imo, at least for the vast majority of people.

I play WoW, but I still stop playing it and go out and get on with my life, and i still get bored after a few hours even though it is enjoyable :)

I dont see the point in WoW. My mate doesnt shut up about it and is trying to get me to buy it. I much prefer to play a driving game or tomb raider....something where i know if i win or loose. The £7 a month could easily go towards a quarter or a bottle of wine ;)
