X-Com 2 - Announced

You can use flashbangs to break the mind control instantly

Just got to advent blacksite mission, absolute nightmare.Thinking im gonna restart the game, now i know some of new mechanics and enemy types i should be able to get a better start and maybe keep some of my non Rookie/CL soldiers alive lmao. Also the overworld stuff is poorly explained,i wasted a bunch of time/resources expanding west before i i was meant to i think.

They deffo have ramped up the difficulty this time, anyone know what i need to research to unlock heavier armour? Extra HP and 2nd item slot would be a godsend

Yea it's way harder than the previous game, which is good I think. But sometimes you just get completely overwhelmed. If you load a save and restart the missions it generates a completely new map though, which is nice :D

Fyi to those find it tough. You need a ranger with concealment skills.
They can scout ahead and you can plan routes. Or have the marksman blow their brains up.
Also the battle scanner grenade is good alternative but limited use.
While the mimic grenade draws fire for a turn.

My thoughts are that the skills are now so diverce that no second team can be the same on different mission.
Eg on non timed missions use brute force. On timed eg bombs use more stealth units, on vip use something mobile with hackers (both computer & sword :) )

hmm...I did 6-7 missions or so on commander difficulty and so far not a single injury. Some save/load was needed but not much. Biggest difficulty I had with VIP evac mission, when on the way to evac zone sectoid poped with 2 ADVENT boys and then almost in the same place another 3 support ADVENT troops landed...with only 3 turns left I had to move fast without full cover. I was just lucky I guess, they missed my ranger and sniper rushing to evac zone. And I left 3 unkilled enemies behind...

Random idea - I wonder if the dev kit stuff has the legs to cover it (I suspect some exe tweaking might be needed which wouldn't really be cool).

Have a single character that's yours. You happen to have your own private base, Shen, etc. Have the tactical map shared and queue for it as an mmo dungeon (maybe one where resources are shared and you suggest what you'd like and it's voted to make loot sharing sensible).
The players each take their turn, in turn or can pass for someone else and join the back of the queue for that round.

It's not something that would be too easy to code but.... it's not a huge leap up, most of the engine is there you just need to link extra bits together (and pad up the deathmatch network code to cover the extra bits of comms needed). I really think it would be doable though... :D

Flashbangs counter sectiods pretty hard, removes all psionic effects from troopers and also kills zombies they resurrect. Flashbangs have always been the best items in XCOM and it's no different here! :p

Gah! I'm stuck here at work knowing the game is waiting for me when I get home... watch those minutes tick by...

I'm going to assume as with the other game Ironman Commander and upwards is the only true way to play :p

I'm getting really bad frame rates. 4fps at base and up to 20fps in mission. Game also seems locked at 30fps.

Only played it for 33 minutes and already looking for some tweaks.

The only thing which is annoying the absolute hell out of me at the moment is the weapon accuracy. It suffers from the same thing that all xcom games have, which is that I can literally be standing 1ft away from an enemy and miss them with a shotgun.

Now, unlike these "soldiers" , I am not trained in the art of shooting but I am 100% sure that I could manage to successfully hit someone with a shotgun whilst standing 1ft away. IMO, if you are stood adjacent to someone, it should be a 100% hit chance.

Accuracy will improve as the soldiers progress like the others though, so it's not too bad.
