x1900 series whos getting one.

Hi there

The X1800's are gonna remain in the current line up and prices won't move much if any.

X1900's are to compete with NVIDIA's 512MB 7800 GTX and pricing will be on a similar level. At the same time NVIDIA 512MB 7800 GTX will be easily available. :)

Well im totally :confused: now, i thought R580 was the next gen, but you say its the competitor to the 512mb GTX ??, i thought that was gona be the x1800 XT PE, G71 Feb, Nvidia's next gen card, so wheres the competitor to that now, is that going to be the R600 now then, and is that gona be months after the G71 like the XT was months after the GTX 256mb, or is it gona hit the same time Feb, which would mean 1x card in Jan, next gen in Feb. :confused:

X1800 XT PE will probably not come out as early samples were unstable. We did buy a load but they were returned as they crashed often.

X1900 will have more than one model, one no doubt a little quicker than 512MB 7800 GTX for less money and one quite a bit faster for similar money. :)

However NVIDIA will release G71 in February which supposedly will destroy R580's performance. Then the next major release will be towards end of the summer when the real next gen cards come out.

Not sure where your getting your info - and with the greatest of respect, some of your previous predictions have been way off - but from what Ive gathered from various sources the X1900XTX will be a direct competitor to the G71. The only thing thats going to be a bit "hhmm" is that it will much better in pixel shader heavy games, but take a bit of a roasting in pure pixel power games.

Who would think - maybe its the games that will decide the winner of the next gen cards, and not the cards themselves? ;)

Oh and by "real" next gen, I take it you are on about the unified shader jobbies? Now thats when things should get a bit more interesting, but no doubt very expencive :P

Ahh i see, thanks for clearing that up. :)

Im still a bit :confused: though, so there isn't going to be a competitor to the G71 for quite some time then, so ATi are still way behind.

Theres not much point getting an x1900 then, as all the 512mb GTX is is a 256mb GTX with an extra 256mb added, and a bump in speed, so if the x1900's going to compete with that, then there is no point, just get an x1800 XT instead of paying nigh on double for a speed bump.

Yes in certain games/programmes the X1900's will destroy. When I say compete its more on a price basis as X1900's will have similar pricing to 512MB GTX's but the new ATI cards will be quicker. :D
Then G71 will be released which should be quicker again.

I have everything I need to put them on sales but unfortunately NDA rules prevent me from confirming anything in detail. I can only agree with what people are already saying. ;)

*me rubs chin*
Not sure on the release date of the G71, but guess we wont have to wait long till we find out who is right ;)
Dont suppose you know anything about the arrival of the XL version of the 1900 series perchance?

I have a lovely road map, but can't tell you a thing. :p

" the next major release will be towards end of the summer when the real next gen cards come out."

Well i guess the 6800Gt is gonna hold out till then, give me a chance to spend my money on summing else for a change :)

Sounds like ATi might be doing something wrong here, by what i am reading nvidia are gonna win once again.

What if the G71 was clocked at 400mhz would it be running extra cool? And would it have like 400mhz overclocking capibilitys its just that a 32pipe card doesn't sound like a refresh sounds like another generation . Maybe the G80 is 32 and G71 is 24pipes clocked at 700mhz?

Makes sense as people where speculating on a 32pipe card for the G70 but it turned out to be 24 . Just seems like a waste of nvidia's money. Why not clock up the 90nm G70 and then wait for 32pipes to compet with the X2800?

BTW rage3d has a source on pricing...

X1900XT = 629 Euros
X1900XTX = 719Euros

Give you some ideas, head over there for information on the source cause its a store and i don't think i am allowed to post that here.

£500 for the x1900xtx gibbo is saying then if its matched to the 7800gtx 512mb. I don think i can afford that ill either just have to go for the bog standard xt if i want to get it on release date. Or i could just 2 weeks longer to get the xtx ill just have to think about it.

Unless gibbo says theres a real big difference between the xt and xtx.

So far ive saved £237 quid from my spending allowance, but i keep tempting myself by looking at which card i can afford each time my spending money goes up. So this week i can afford x1800xl, which is slightly tempting but i must not as there not exactly the best cards are they :p
January 24th is such along time its getting very hard times, like yesturday i spent 35 quid and bought all 3 of the onimusha series :) and it came with a free game the bouncer :)

Yeah, all they are doing at the moment is getting one up on each other, "Ohh ATi have released a speedbumped faster card, better get one out thats a bit quicker", "ohh Nvidia have released a card thats a bit quicker, time for a speedbump", "ohh ATis ........" :D

your just annoyed you bought an average 1800xt :p

imo dropping 450 notes on a gfx card is ludicrous. nvidia/ati are jacking up the cost of gaming and your helping them. gaming isnt a 2k/year hobby for me. sorry nvidia.
