X3:Terran Conflict has arrived

But how do you do a spiral strafe roll while firing and changing speed with KB and mouse?

You also cant control your ship while you have menu's open.

Easy!
A+Q / D+E for the strafe and roll, mouse wheel to change speed and holding Right click to fire ;)
In normal flight I use Z and X for speed control though :p

Don't really tend to need to control the ship when I have the menu open, I guess it would be nice, but its not a major issue. I can aim better with a mouse than a joystick anyway :)

Thats a lot of keys needed, you can do all of it with one hand on a joystick. You also have better control over the rudder.

Would be nice if the game was MP then we could see which is best :D

what ship do you guys aim for first when you started?

Good question.

I dont think ive ever done the same thing twice.

In my first game of TC i started off with a saber(m4) then upgraded to a nova raider(m3), then went on to a panther(m7).....

In my current game i started with a scorpion(m5) then upgraded to a blastclaw prototype(m3), then onto a HCP(m6), then a shreik(m7)....

Generally you want to aim for a decent m3. Then move onto something bigger.

The cost of getting a decent m3 ranges from 0 to several million depending on what method you use to acquire them.

I've started with an Saber and was thinking nova next tbh, but they cost so much! gonna have to pirate one I think!

I suggest you take a trip to one of these sectors and look around a bit;)

Ok so I've bought the game and started off as a trader and I have a few gripes, I'm not sure if I'm just being a dunce or if this is how the game is supposed to play.

1. Every time I jump into a system I have to fly to each space station / factory / asteroid to 'discover' it so that I can then refer to it for docking. Is this normal or am I missing something? I would've thought that that far in the future technology would let you scan the system and communicate at distances greater than 7-8km... maybe not...

2. Trading. How on earth are you supposed to do this? I buy stuff at what seems to be a reasonable price and then have to spend ages going from station to station trying to find a decent buyer for my wares. Can I just jump into a system and check remotely? I know later on I can use satellites but initially it's proving to be a bit of a killer for my interest in the game.

3. Systems where all you can see is nebulous pea soup. Is there some way to find space station in this or do I have to drift around like a moron looking for them?

Very pretty game but it's a nightmare to get into...

1st this thread is about X3:tc not X3:R, in X3:tc the comms range is 25km.

1) When you first visit a sector you have to map it, once mapped you dont need to do it again, There are software extensions that will map a sector for you. You can also buy system maps from the BBS in reunion or from trade missions in TC.

2) Trading system extension, then bring up the info for the station. Or you could use the best buy \ best sell software.

3) see 1

doing a patrol and get to the 3rd system then get jumped about about 15 pirates? happened twice now. all seem to go for me and my wingmen just sit there and suck their thumb!

ok, i dont remember the pirates attacking as part of that mission. If you cant destroy them then my advice is leave the mission alone for awhile.

Go and do a station defence or trade mission or something that will make a bit of profffits. This should give the pirates time to leave the sector and they wont be a problem.

:eek::D:):D:p:cool:

Just read this

If you had to create “the ultimate game” what would it be?

Probably just the "ultimate" version of what we do already - the PERFECT space simulation game. You can go everywhere, be everybody, do everything and always have a lot of fun. Sounds simple enough to do, right? Well, we are on the job…stay tuned ;-)

As you might know X3:tc is the last game they are making in the X series, but just imagine what a ultimate / perfect space simulation game will be like..... me wants me wants NOW!!!!

anyone done the mission where you've got to go meet up with some informer or other (this is a terran mission) then they say they need you to help get him freed then you have to go kill some random freighter to appease some split (i think)?
keep getting pwnt with that one and hate that the pilot you're following max's out at 80m/s.

Cant remember the split wanting me to kill any freighters, there is a part where some telardi wants you to take out some competition. Is this the one?

If so what part is the problem. If its getting into the argon sector then go and speak to the exterminator in omicron lyree and do the first few missions of the final fury plot(this will give you access to the sector)

I would expect that they have been working on it for a while, most of the new additions for TC were made by the xtm team and a large chuck of the devs who are currently working on TC 2.5 and various other additions have been took from the community, cycrow, mox* etc.

*the guy who made most of the new ships in TC, all the m7's etc.

Just a shame the 2.5 upgrade is looking pretty naff, past games have always had hefty additions for the 2.5 mark.

We got that major upgrade with 2.0a ie the aldrin missions.

I got this game when it was on the steam special offer weekend
Sadly tho , when I try the training mission , I cant get past the "I eject this cargo canister"
bit , he doesnt eject a cargo container so it cant progress with it :-(
Or Am I missing something obvious ?

To eject a cargo container open your freight menu, select the item then chose eject. simples

need to raise my argon ranking quickly, ideas?

Depends on how low its got.

If they still give you missions then its easy. Simply do a couple of combat missions then you will be fine.

If you cant get missions then your options are limited.

ways to gain rank,

1) destroy pirate ships in argon space
2) destroy Paranid in argon space, this will damage your paranid rank but as long as you are careful you will be fine.
3) Trade, anything you sell in argon space or to a argon will add to your rank
4) find a patrol mission that goes into argon space, once there all kills will count to your rank.

Last time i ruined my argon rank i picked on the paranid and pirates.

well for some reason doing the terran mission I've not got enough argon rank to enter their space/dock?

Ah that argon sector, talk to the exterminator in omicron lyree and do the first few missions of the final fury plot. This gives you access to the sector.

nice, so any pointers for the Final Fury jobbie? will I walk it in my Nova Raider?

Em.. It took me a Vidar, Shrike and 8 Kestrels, in unison, to finish it. However I think the mission are scaled to your current ship. Try it and see, it gets tougher the further you progress in Final Fury.

Nate

no its based on your combat rank.

You will need something much bigger than a Nova for this plot. You will come up against Kaahk capital ships.

The first mission is a xenon patrol mission in blackhole, you should be able to do this in a nova.
The second is goto the argon sector.

ok but the next terran mission takes me though a xenon sector chock full of hostiles! :(
goes from EASY to VERY HARD in the drop of a hat!
also this missions marked as "Average"! godda take this guy I rescued to some system or other!

There is always more than one route to your destination.....

Failing that Jump drive.

If you are having lag problems try lowing the texture detail to medium. You should get between 0-1000% boost in gfx speed when they release the 2.5 patch.

How would this run on a P4 3.0Ghz, 2GB RAM, ATI x600 mobility Radeon?

It really interests me but I want a decent experience playing it, and wont bother until I can get a new PC/laptop if it will run like a dog.

Dont think it will run well at all on that setup the GFX card will really struggle.

Well 1000% is probably a bit of a over statement probably more like 100%

I just don't get it! unplayable when I get 4-5 hostiles appear next to me in these "protect the hauler" missions
hostiles jump in, I lag, by the time the games playable they have killed one of the haulers! the pain is the ships are easy to kill once I've de-lagged!

You could easily be suffering from the save slowdown bug. This is fixed in the 2.5 patch if they ever release it.

i think Shadez needs a medal for all the help in this thread lol

TY, i will wear the medal with pride :D

Picked this up yesterday pretty cheaply, after reading the last few pages I think I will wait until 2.5 comes out before I give it a shot though!

No need to wait, the game is fully playable with the 2.1 patch. The only major problems that are fixed in the 2.5 patch wont come along until you have been playing for several days.

yeah with the other X3 docs I've got now!
think I need a larger ship soon, "easy" combat missions consist of a nova + centau/o-somthing (orca?) vs my nova raider!
was thinking of fixing up one of the falcons or novas I cap and using it as wing but they seem to die so easy!

The Nova is a good ship, keep do the terran plot for awhile and they will give you a vidar one of the best M6's in the game. If you dont like the vidar finish the terran plot and get yourself a springblossom (ever wondered how powerful a M6 would be if it wasnt as slow as a snail, well this baby is fast. When i say fast i mean M5 speed fast)
