X4 Foundations

I do miss jump drives though - both the effect and also if one of my ships is attacked I can’t get to it quickly and it can’t escape easily

I think that's exactly why they removed it. It was way too cheesy in X3, being able to just instantly move a fleet across the galaxy. It removed any need for tactical positioning, and provided no punishment for leaving something undefended.

Apparently there is a shortage of engine parts now, so even though war has begun and factions start building their own ships, there is no engine production to fuel them. Not even a trickle apparently.

My latest start had a shortage of engine parts at a Paranid wharf right from the get-go. Unfortunately, I didn't notice until I'd ordered a ship from them, and it wasn't getting built, and there was no way to cancel my order. And at the time, I didn't have enough of the map explored, so there was nowhere to buy any engine parts. Oh well. Eventually found a factory building them, and got them shipped over for tasty tasty profitsssss.

Where did you find the engine parts? I've got the same problem. It sounds like a feature more than a bug which is pretty cool!!

Edit: found an engine parts factory.

Can't figure out satellites though. Anyone able to tell me how they work?

Plonk them down next to stations to see up to date buy/sell prices. Useful for your traders. You can either deploy them yourself, or command ships remotely to deploy them.

What are you running it with? I am at 1440p with a 1080Ti and i7 4770k and will get 90 FPS in open space, but around 20 if there are lots of asteroids or ships (ssao and glow both on normal and screen space reflections off with fxaa on high). Neither cpu or gpu ever near 100%.

No engine part fix or have I missed that? Maybe it falls under improved wharf trader restocking?

Weird, wondered why I wasn’t making much money all of a sudden. Every one of my traders had filled up with wares with nowhere to sell them. Guess a patch bugged them out. Dropped cargo, reset them and all seems well again.
