X4 Foundations

There are currently 8Ks and 1I trying to take it down. I ain't going anywhere near that thing.

Ok thanks I'll try it, I'm gonna setup my first few stations at the very far right FRF system, which has most raw materials except ore by the looks of it, the adjacent system has ore so going by what you are saying hopefully the station assigned miners will go to the next system.

The FRF systems are great, lots of ore, reasonable demand. The FRF don't build many ships though.

Holy Vision and Argon Prime are crazy good sectors. All the minerals you need and both factions build loads of ships.

If you do not play as FRF you should be fine. :)

I am going to start the HAT questline to
trigger the civil war, where the FRF would be churning ships fast.
I am gathering the resources to build a cluster of factories and shipyards to fulfill those orders :D

uh got a weird thing.

I can see not only my own ships orders, but the orders of everyone, or at least all the FRF around me.

Any way of turning that off?

EDIT: NVM found it under the filter settings, also the show faction colours is pretty handy.

I do have another question though, what is the best way to take out hostile stations in general?

I've tried it with a mix of ships but anything that gets close to the station just gets shredded. I checked my rattlesnakes do have long range guns, but for some reason they decide to get close enough for the station guns to hit them and get shredded also.

Is it maybe my pilot skill?

EDIT 2: One more sorry! - No doubt me being very thick here, but, if I am walking around a station and find someone to recruit, what is the best way of getting them to the desired point?

Say I find somone on a station I want to manage one of my stations, do I have to send him to my ship first, then fly him there, or how does this work?

a) On recruiting. You assign him as a Marine to your station, you transfer them with a ship, when the ship landed, open the ship information screen, go down to the crew list and talk to him. Say that you want him to work somewhere else, right click the station and on the right side select to be the manager.

b) On station destruction. Do both the snakes have full complements of (40 S) fighters and fighter & repair drones?

They don't have any fighters at all! The drones yes.

Is it like regular S size ships you can build at a wharf, you just assign to the destroyer? Or are there destroyer specific fighters?

I bought my first freighter today as orders for my HQ build we’re not being fulfilled by NPCs.

I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but my pilot for the freighter mostly doesn’t want to go where I want, the ship will just get to a certain point and then not move. I know they are slow moving beasts but I do leave it for a while but nothing happens. I ended up flying the thing myself to my HQ.

Are they this bad in auto mode or am I just impatient?

Are you trying to watch the freighter or guard it yourself?

Ive found larger ships can easily get stuck, usually on friendly NPC ships, if you fly away from them, ideally leave the sector completely they tend to work a lot better.

Ok I’m on another ship and have just sent the freighter to pick up some more goods. Hopefully, without me there, it’ll just get where it’s going.

Another thing I've learned (I'm still well new myself) is that you can queue up orders for your freighter, so you can send it to A, buy stuff, send to B, buy more, then even go to C, sell, back to A etc.

As far as I can tell there isn't a limit on how many orders or transactions you can set at any one time.

It just means you can queue it up to do lots of stuff so you don't have to keep checking up on it.

The same works for everything, scouts it's a good one, buy a small ship and just at send it out flying everywhere and forget about it.

Are there any good guides or resources out there for first time, im used to X3TC & X4:F seems totally different to me, ide like to flatten the learning curve if possible.

3.10 has introduced so many bugs, probably due to the fact it was in beta for about an hour.

The new ingame tutorials via the New Game start menu and YouTube.

I hope they add more questlines like the HAT one, even if these come in the form of paid DLC. It ads to the atmosphere of the whole game.

Btw to those who want to start fresh with 3.10 but don't want to grind again for PHQ etc, pick the "Researcher" start. I know is Argon character, but tomorrow might try to make a Teladi & Paranid start with the same concept if someone wish for this purpose.

Tbh I am considering to write a tool to set the parameters of such start, including moving the PHQ.

What's everyones opinnion on the best anti-fighter turret weapon for destroyers/carriers? On my Argon Behemoth I've got 2 L lasers and then the rest are all M lasers; good at generally hitting first Xenon ships but low damage... What do others think?

M/S Pulse turrets if ship has such slots. Otherwise thats the fighter drones for, to protect the ship :p
Large turret weapons Plasma or bigger, to attack your targets with main weapons, they cannot track S/M ship because they a L turrets, even if they they were Pulse.
