I know it's not a "GTO2" card, but since it's the same specs with the 1.6 ns memory modules and the R480 core, it could be a possibility couldn't it...?

its not just the specs though its the circuit layout and how the GPU has been altered. if the HIS card has had its pipelines cut on the GPU, youl never be able to unlock them regardless of what you do. also the GTO 2 uses exactly the same printed circuit board and component layout as the X850XTPE and the same cooler as the X850 Pro. and to this day the only GTO`s that have modded are some of the Connect3D GTO cards and all of the sapphire GTO2 cards.

given no ones mentioned the unlocking of any HIS cards i would say it was a safe bet that it doesnt unlock.

Okay, so when other people's cards core goes too high in ATI Tool does it just make artifacts appear or doe syour whole system hang? Mine does, does that mean it's a different problem is it it the core messing up?

AFAIK for me it automatically lowers the speeds until no artifacts are found;no system hang..

That means your core has reached it's limit imo. My system hangs once the core gets to around 540 even though the core temp is still at 40c (watercooled).

I was thinking the same but have recently upgraded to a Seasonic 500W so really power shouldn't be an issue.

Most of these chips seem to be topping out around the 530-540 mark anyway.

M8s got one of these heading his way. From the results you lot have been guessing hes going to be one happy bunny. Hes getting the same board as you j.miller, looks like a great board imo. Be interesting to try out a new chipset too.

ok, you are really starting to get annoying. youve post on several occasions in this thread about how bad your card is and each time youve been told what you have is good enough. so you didnt get the fastest GTO2, so you didnt get XTPE speeds, NIETHER DID I! what you got is a card that mods to give a 30% increase in performance MINIMUM, most of the GTO2`s seem to settle happily at X850PRO speeds anyway. only an idiot would call the clocks that you have, crap.

Now stop trashing what has been an excellent range of cards and a damn good value for money deal. and another thing, edit your post, the last time i didnt edit out a swear word completely i got banned for 2 days.

I'm on 520/600 and still going, BF2 session of 2 hours top temp of 68

in a Antec Aria Well happy

on 520/611 changed fan settings to 80% at 62C

cheers may try for more soon, but im very happy now

What speed are you running the fan on the GTO² at? I've got mine set to speed up gradually with temperature, hitting 100% speed at 60ºC and my card has never broken 62ºC yet at 530/630 after hours of BF2.

68ºC is great, mind. Just wondering if you could be dropping it a bit and make yourself an even happier monkey.

It couldn't be simpler.

1.) Set your CD or DVD drive as a boot device in your BIOS.

2.) Burn locutus12's ISO to a CD or DVD recordable disc and insert it into the drive.

3.) Reboot PC.

4.) Press enter when it asks if you want to flash to 16 pipes.

5.) Done.

Really is a genius little ISO IMO.

hmm is this right. Just unlocked the pipe and getting:

3dmark 2003 before : 9400
3d mark 2003 after : 10400

3d mark 2005 before : 4400
3d mark 2005 after : 5030

haven't overclocked yet, btw how do you guys get the temp from the card???
