X800 GTO2 Thread, post your mods and clocks here.

I wanted one of those GTO2 cards, but unfortunatly they were sold out by the time I got to ordering one.. Instead, I got the Connect3D x800 GTO card, and thought I'd share the scores with you, as I'm quite impressed... ;)

Hi,

I just thought id post to add my card to the list. After a bit of playing around ive finally got the following:

Normal 'safe' settings.
520/560 (16 pipes)

Max artifact free settings.
533/567 (16 pipes)

Although not the best clocker on this thread im more than happy with it and im chuffed to bits TBH :D

Benchies as follows:

3D Mark 01 - 25247
3D Mark 03 - 12621
3D Mark 05 - 6264

Card fitted with an Arctic Cooler aswell to aid cooling.

Regards,

Dave.

just ordered one of them myself, should make the whole deal a bit quieter

on the downside i appear to have a problem somewhere, not sure if it's the GFX or what but i got two BSOD (STOP_MACHINE_EXCEPTION 0x0000009c...) whilst watching a video, i don't think it's a heat thing cause i was playing games for hours earlier and it was fine. i think it might be the GFX card sharing an IRQ with my Sound Card but i can't find where i read that in the manual, could that be causing my problem or is it the overclock (bareing in mind that the card is set to "auto overclock" only when 3D is needed)

got to love computers  ;)

Another big thankyou to locutus12 :)

On reading the threads about GTO2 boards and the ease of locutus12's unlocking program ,our 2 pc's where due updating ,and we looked no further.

Now running both with unlocked GTO2's and overclocked Opty 146's and the results are superb.

Thank you kind Sir.

As i do believe that is a right that assists me, i'll continue to do so whenever i feel so. If you somehow feel that it is disturbing, don't look. As you, and all other buyers i've paid 150 pounds aprox. for that card. However if "we" bench it all together, comparing with any kind of superior OC range(and im not even reffering to XTPE speeds) card i WILL get lower results overall (discarding other components).
Sincerely, in my opinion, i AM NOT satisfied with such thing. If you are, well it's with you mate, however i do honestly think that you have no right whatsoever to question my insatisfaction just because overall it is a "bang gor the buck" card. I do recon so but as i said, I, me, am no satisfied with the values that i get. To me, it doesn't have the same value as one that does 520/540. I can't say that it has performed a 100% succesful mod.
And truly, i'm trying to get rid of it. Just because of 10mhz. It's my money, it's my mind, it's my way to see, do and act with things. At least when i am concerned with OC'ing. Call me fanatic. That right, you have it. And i assume to be so.

Think this to be enough.

:p

If anyone has a right to be annoyed it is me fool :P mine is topping out (pc crashes) at 510Mhz GPU and 616 Mem TBH It is still good value for money! Having to run at GPU 500 MEM 600, (I tried dropping the mem down to get GPU up, would not have it..)

I suspect my psu may have something to do with it, x-pro 460watt tho all the voltage rails seem fine :(

Or it could be to do with the expox bord, concidering overvolting the pcie bus a bit to see if it helps.

Brocon, mine is basically the same as yours. Run at 500/600 in normal operation - my Tagan 2force 480w PSU didn't help. Still, getting 6500 points in 3dmark05 is not to be sniffed at for £150.

Mine crashes out at 500/600!!! Consider yourselves lucky!!! ;) I run mine at stock except when benching. The chances are if I get slow down on a game using this card, I won't get much better performance with an o/c anyway really. But still, I'm rather chuffed with it!!!

Currently my GTO2 is running at a modest 510/590 @ 50 degC...

3DMark05 - 6097

Havn't found the limit for artifacts.. no need to really with those settings - lol.

I wonder if there is anything common to all our systems that causes the crashing? I can set the card to 530Mhz (not tried higher) on the desktop and it is fine. But swich to 3d and the screen just goes blank.

Syspecs Opteron 144 CAB2E @2900Mhz (9x323)
Epox 9NPA+
1Gb TwinMos on 100Mhz divider, very very tight timings (makes more difference than a higher mem clock)
GTO2 500/600Mhz
2x Sampsung 160GB spin points
DVD-RW +DVD-R
XPRO 460watt (checked the voltage's with a multimeter, all are infact slightly high and stable.)

Quite pleased overall, I get 6482 in 3dm 05 which is not to be sniffed at. Would have liked an opteron at 3Ghz and XTPE speeds, but such is life. (system only has to last 1year anyway!)

I'm also stuck at the 500/600 overclock, there is definitely a pattern here that seems to split into two groups - 500/600 or 530/570. Luckily both seem to provide similar 3DMark05 scores (6100 - 6200ish), and are both of course excellent overclocks :)

I'm very interested in those Connect3D X800GTO results though, overclocking to 609/691 with a 3Dmark05 score of 6823?! That card only costs £130!

Greetings, another overclocking (and forum) newbie here

I've got a Sapphire GTO2 (from OcUK), I've looked through the forum and haven't seen a report of the problem I've had, but it may just be lack of knowledge ;)
I double checked the card with the ATI Tool to confirm the R480 core and the 'F's in the correct locations but when I followed
all the steps on the techpower site I couldn't get the flash to work; having successfully saved the current BIOS this is what I got when I tried to flash the new one:

A:\>flashrom -p 0 gto2_16p.bin

Serial ROM
BIOS DeviceID = 0x5D4F
ASIC DeviceID = 0x5D4F
Existing SSID = 0x1600
New SSID = 0x0302

SSID does not match with BIOS file "gt02_16p.bin" SSID!
Use '-f' to force flashing.

ERROR 0FL01 : press '1' to continue

A:\>

When I used the -i and -l options I got:

A:\>flashrom -i

adapter bn dn dID asic flash ID flash type remap lock romsize
======= == == ==== =============== ===== ==== ============== ===== ==== =======
0* 01 00 5D4F R423 - - ST M25P05/c - yes 0x10000

Note: * - Active/boot-up device.
/c - or compatible parts.

A:\>flashrom -l 0

Serial Flash ROM is locked.

A:\>

Does this mean what it seems to - that the BIOS is locked?
Does anyone know if it will be OK to us the -f option to force the flash? I would really appreciate the help.

I only have Internet access at work :( so my responses to posts might be delayed

Hi njohnd,

Forget about entering all the commands yourself, there's no need thanks to the awesome locutus12 and his amazing iso :D Have a look here:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17481933

Follow the instructions in the first post, it really is that easy. Make sure you burn the CD with DAO (Disc At Once), people have suggested TAO doesn't work.

Hi merkin51,
i've downloaded the iso but how do you unpack it before burning? i'm guessing something has to be done or i'll just get the .iso file on the cd

I only know how to do this in Nero but there should be an option for it any other burning programs - you need to choose an option that says "Burn Image to Disc" or something similar. An .iso file is just that, an image file of a disc ;) So when you choose that option, browse to where you saved the iso file and select it. Burn the disc at DAO, and away you go!

I had the same message and used the -f option it flashed fine.

I am thinking of buying one of these babies. How good are they without unlocking? Would I be better off buying a different card or is this one of the best PCI-Express cards for under £150?

Why wouldn't you unlock it? If you aren't going to unlock, go for a standard GTO. Will save about £20, but will be a far worse card than an unlocked GTO2.
