**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

In that case, why bother with Xbone? Just hook up the 360 to the cloud and have Xbone power without any upgrade! :p
Because its obviously a different cloud, maybe Cirrus. I suspect the PS4 is shaping up to look like Cumulonimbus

ps3ud0

Console exclusive, still coming to PC, not sure how though as it it uses the infine power of the cloud. :p

lol :p why bother with an xbox one if the exclusives appear on PC. Might as well get a PS4 and a PC and be done with it.

No change for next gen as for this gen appears. PC and PS3 has gained me the most games to play, looks like that trend continues into next gen as well.

Plot twist ... PCs can now have internet connections. No reason they cannot access "the cloud".

It makes me wonder how realistic, or great it's going to be. Because cloud processing for gaming could have come into being along time ago on PC, and yet its not been picked up by a dev and used. Surely if it was that much of a holy grail, it would have become mainstream by now.

That would depend entirely on how the cloud is used I guess. You would only be able to use it for stuff that isn't immediately needed.

With PC's though, would it be worth it to invest so much money into cloud processing for a platform that is less profitable than the console market? At the end of the day whatever the devs dream up or ask for, it has to be able to turn a profit or no one will pay for it.

With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies.

So, no caravan holidays for you XBone. Simply ridiculous.

Things I found noteworthy from all that blurb.

A new generation of games with power from the cloud: Because every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection, developers can create massive, persistent worlds that evolve even when you’re not playing.

For an optimal experience, we recommend a broadband connection of 1.5Mbps. (For reference, the average global internet connection speed as measured recently by Akamai was 2.9 Mbps). In areas where an Ethernet connection is not available, you can connect using mobile broadband.

While a persistent connection is not required, Xbox One is designed to verify if system, application or game updates are needed and to see if you have acquired new games, or resold, traded in, or given your game to a friend. Games that are designed to take advantage of the cloud may require a connection.

Hilarious. Genuine LOL if MS thinks this is a selling point.

"Don't worry chaps, we'll still let you watch TV even if we block all your games."

“Xbox One is designed so game publishers can enable you to give your disc-based games to your friends. There are no fees charged as part of these transfers. There are two requirements: you can only give them to people who have been on your friends list for at least 30 days and each game can only be given once.”

No fees there saying for used games there saying to

Give your family access to your entire games library anytime, anywhere: Xbox One will enable new forms of access for families. Up to ten members of your family can log in and play from your shared games library on any Xbox One. Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time.

So in theory you could share games between you and one mate.

So each game can only be activated twice? Jesus, I really hope the PS4 doesn't follow microsofts path.

Im not sure about that, does it mean you can only ever loan a game once and a game can be only traded in once? Surley if you have traded a game in you would only trade it in once, the person who then bought it would be the licence holder so couldnt he trade it in again? Think im more confused than i was before they released this lol.

Yeah it doesn't seem to be any clearer than before. My guess is you can pass it on to a friend for free but if he passes it on then there will be an activation fee.
