**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Would say the same for Ubisoft too - its probably a far smaller list to ask 'Which publisher wont be charging additional fees revloving around used games?'

That giant bomb video touched on something very interesting.

Hackers and Hacking. Imagine if they took down the authentication server. Stopped people being able to log into the server and authenticate

Now I know it hasnt happened yet to MS, but generally these "elite" hackers go after companies that **** them off. And I imagine a lot of the XboxONE stuff is going to create a lot of butthurt hackers. =\

People enabled this behavior of allowing the manufacturer to 'lock out' services to those without internet connection by not speaking up when MS started to hide already paid for services such as Netflix behind Xbox Live subscriptions.

To them, this is just a gradual expansion of the restrictions placed on the user when in reality it's blocking a CORE feature and a restriction which is completely unnecessary and screams out as an all-out attempt to curry favor with the developers.

I see it going one of two ways. If the XBox One continues through this to still be fairly successful and the developers see it as a way of getting money for more copies of games and not losing out on used games sales, they will naturally sway towards MS.

If it falls on its ass, the console is going to flop horribly. The publishers can of course opt not to enforce the activations, but I think we all know that a great number of them will make full use of it, at least until the complaints roll in.

If it really is only coming with a 500GB HDD and it's being marketed as the solution for all of my gaming/TV recording/media storing then that's pathetic, my Sky box alone has 1TB (used almost 500GB just recording The Sopranos) and the 160GB that came with my PS3 is full too, that's 660GB used on a handful of game saves, around 10 downloaded games and 1 TV show in HD.

Microsoft's solution for more storage above the paltry 500GB seems to be USB HDDs which are not elegant in the slightest. For a start they take up a USB slot and it's an additional unnecessary cable and device in the rack. I can see that perhaps I could use the 1TB on my Sky box just for TV and then use the 500GB on the One just for games but what is the point of having an all in one device which is only being used for one thing? Especially if the price reflects the fact it will be a multi function device.

In my HiFi cabinet I have a Sky box and a PS3, switching between the two is one button press and judging by the gif earlier in the thread switching between HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 on my TV is far faster than talking to an inanimate object, waiting for it to recognise what I've said then waiting further for it to actually do what I've asked.

Considering this is meant to be a universal solution for both my media and gaming it's left me very underwhelmed and when it comes to storing games and recording movies I'd hardly consider myself a power user. I'll have to see what games they announce at E3 but the only thing I'm even vaguely interested in so far is Forza and that alone won't be enough for me to buy an Xbox One.

It stands it seems to me that the priority is for this device to take over the role of all my other devices but when they still need to be plugged in right next to it and when switching channels with 1 button on my TV remote is faster than looking like a retard swiping at thin air and talking to a console what's the point?

I *think* they're using it as merely an interface for your existing DVR? But that's just an assumption.

So I've just woken up to the all the new news about the XB One as I was out last night and wow all I can say is HOLY ****.

What are Microsoft thinking, Glad that I have yet to pre order the XB as some of the announcements have really put me off.

Hadn't thought of that.
If the authentication is once every 24 hrs, i wonder how much grace period there would be before the console shuts the user out.

So you can log on to your friends Xbox One and play all your games at their house....am I reading that correctly?

Yes but you have to be online every hour, if you aren't connected for over an hour it'll lock you out.

It's not a bad system if you're just hanging out at a friends.

Well I don't know anyone who doesn't have the internet so that's fine.

i think I can count the amount of times I've had my 360 disconnected from the internet for over 24 hours in the last five years as....zero.

Can't wait for E3 :)

I might just get both :p Probably one at launch and one 6-12 months later.

Well that's me cancelling my Lovefilm subscription then, seeing as I currently only use it for Xbox 360 rentals. Their CEO must be going mad lol, going to lose a lot of customers because of this I would imagine.

24 Hours is the grace period essentially. It always wants a connection, but if you for whatever reason don't have a connection it will continue to work for the next 24hours and then will stop working. (that's how i read it anyway)

Tbh anybody at this point defending this abysmal crap is simply an Xbox fanboy. No real gamers can defend this crap.
