**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Ok I have a real serious question here:

Do American's really "play" that much fantasy American football/basketball ?

Yes, it's huge out there.

NFL Network (the official TV station) puts a ton of content out there aimed purely at FF players. You can see this simply from visiting NFL.com. The NBA is the same too.

Seriously who is gonna buy this?

Many millions is my guess.

People seem to be missing the point the the 360 already does a lot of this "media" stuff, it's just not as advanced. That doesn't make it a useless gaming console, does it? Honestly, some people are giving the impression it can't play games at all.

In all seriousness, the One and PS4 will go toe-to-toe again, probably have a roughly equal share of the market again, and both will have exclusives people want to play again. Same as today.

Well i love the whole Halo live action as i can't get enough good sci-fi nowadays and Remedy's new title was intriguing. But that was about all i found interesting, very underwhelming. All i'm after are great games. The EA sports lineup, CoD, and Forza just don't cut it in my mind. Sony offered up far more games and i wasn't overly impressed by them either.

I may have missed it but was there any confirmation that you MUST have Kinect plugged in and working to use the console and play games? I hope not, i want nothing to do with that thing.

You really do have to love all of the doom mongerers. Xbox is finished, the death of Xbox etc. Wow, really? You can tell all that from a 80 minute presentation? You should be working very high up in a large multi-national then. I'm sure Microshaft (ha ha) will do an excellent job with the One, just as Sony will with the PS4.

As for the name, I'm not sure it's too much of an issue really. 'Hardcore' gamers might refer to the original Xbox and the Xbox 1 but I suspect to the average Joe it won't make too much difference. It's been 10 years since the original Xbox and their unlikely to be 'wtf, they release the Xbox again?!?!'. It certainly doesn't seem to have done the HTC One any harm and they had the One X and One X+ available up until about 2 months ago.

Not overly impressed so far to be honest and the graphics for CODG was an anti climax.

I suppose its because it has to be ported to every system even the current gen but i was hoping it to look a lot better than that, it doesnt look that new at all minus a few special tweeks here and there

The 'fee' would have to be close to the retail price, if not the same.

Otherwise you have people buying one copy retail, then passing it around all their friends who just pay the 'fee' instead.

Therefore there is no incentive to sell 2nd hand copies, as you will not be able to charge hardly anything for them. No incentive to sell = no 2nd hand market.

I thought this too a first, but it shouldn't be. The main reason for the RRP is the retails and distributors who take their cut. So, in theory, the 'unlock' code should be cheaper than buying the game from the shop. The developers/MS don't care (and would prefer) less physical copies out there. Of course how it turns out... who knows.

But another thing to consider is that once you have this game, it is tied to your account. If you lose your account, you lose a lot more than a gamerscore now. To a lot of people who already get GoD, Arcade, lots of DLC etc this may not be a big deal, but to the average user (with crap password security) it might be interesting.

I think it is a bad idea personally :(

The general feel is that they want the odd bit of gaming - and it being tied to their Kinect, and a lot more social/movies through their console. For me, this is less of a games console, and just more of a 'capable' device you can play games on. The games then cannot be sold on. Yeah...

Is it just me, or does Ballmer think he works for Apple?

I'm guessing all the TV features won't be available outside the US, but a decent launch nonetheless.

And could all the retards saying 'there was no games shown urrrr Microsoft lol herp derp' please STFU. Of course there weren't many games shown - it was a features demo.

shopto site says that it will have have pre-orders from 7pm but it hasn't so far. Maybe that will have a price.

No official price has been announced, so it will just be a best-guess "placeholder" price like the PS4 at £399.99 to get pre-orders kicked off.
