**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

No no, i'm saying 1 does equal 1.

Why would anyone go to the effort of downloading 5GB of a game, burn it onto DVD / Hack their Xbox, if they didn't want to play the game.

If they've gone to all that effort, it's pretty clear they're doing it because they want it but don't want to pay for it.

Anyone doing it knows it's wrong, and it's actually disgusting that people can actually sit there defending it.

1. A download does not equal one lost sale and that's a fact.

2. 5GB is not much data at all, it'd take about 6 minutes to download on my internet connection.

3. Wanting to play a game doesn't equate to a lost sale, that again is a fact.

4. You keep sperging about defending things. Where and when? I must have missed it.

I didn't say it isn't ethically wrong, but it should be obvious even to you that there's a need to get the terminology correct.

Your childish, argumentative attitude on these forums is going to earn you a place on my ignore list shortly, I suspect.

Good for you, you go girl!

Why is the specific legal terminology so important for you?

I take it you agree that piracy is wrong then and that anyone lending music cd's to take a copy for themselves, or downloading games should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Plainly because there is no other reason why people are going to these lengths to download and burn games, than to play them without paying for them.

If you haven't paid, you can't play - it's that simple.

5GB in 6 minutes?! I dread to think of the amount of stuff you have downloaded illegally.

If you want to use legal terms, use them correctly or not at all.

I take it you agree that piracy is wrong then and that anyone lending music cd's to take a copy for themselves, or downloading games should be punished to the full extent of the law.

Provide a thorough argument as for why you feel this way and what it would achieve.

You seem to be sperging on "copies" when that is irrelevant. Legally there is no difference between copyright infringement and having a physical pirated copy of something.

They are both breaches of licensing terms. Some licensing terms stipulate that you are not allowed to lend said music CD/DVD/Bluray/game to others too.

Is that wrong and immoral too?

It doesn't mean it's a lost sale.

Well it's not that simple because you can.

I've got a Steam account with over 400 games.

Why are you comparing the PS3's hard disk to a Skybox's hard disk?

The PS3 hard disk is intentionally user replaceable. Do you actually have a PS3?

What a bizarre thing to say.

Yes i did (I gave it to me nephew for xmas cause i didnt play it very much) and you have to unscrew the case and take the thing out, its not plugging it in is it? OK it reformats and sets up without needing messing around with like a sky box but its more like putting a new HD in a PC than clipping one of or plugging in a USB cable.

It's an order of magnitude different.

It's not even like installing one in a PC.

It takes like a minute to install one in a PS3, and once you take the screw out you don't even need to put it back in.

that goes for the rest of you as well.
Thanks, I do think with E3 coming up Shamikebabs point actually might be valid, its just gonna get worse because of a few select individuals - just have their priveliges removed from this sub-forum like what happened with Gimp and Football...

I enjoy the act of debate, but its pointless when your opponent just hasnt got the facility to consider and digest a counter-argument. Thats when I usually just shut up, just zero point in 'winning' the argument by going down to their level, youll just embarrass yourself in the process :/

EDIT: I know I skirt the borderlines too, I just tend to reread everything I post twice before I post, just in case - thank god for common sense :D
