**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Why are you so angry? do you speak to people in real life like you do on here?

It hard not to be angry with what is happening my man. I've been gaming over 25 years since the ZX48 and this is the worst attack on it I've seen by a long way. If Sony announce the same stuff be ready to see my head explode all over the internet!

People trying to justify whats happening by using the same daft non-existent piracy argument the industry uses is just madness.

Xbox 360 it's flashing the drives that allows copied games not jtagging, jtagging requires soldering and stuff but not flashing the drive

You can't currently flash drives on the 360, and all the ones that you could would have had RROD years ago.

Anyway I'm done with this line of discussion, just be aware Piracy is not the reason this is happening.

The issue arises from a consumer buying a disc and it becoming a coaster after its first used, and the only place you can return value for it is at a monopolistic retailer setup. I can't see the EU liking that.

Microsoft haven't said how the authorized retailer thing will work yet.

How many places in the high street do people actually trade in games ? Theres Game (and gamestation before they got rid of it), HMV, CEX and Blockbuster.

HMV and Blockbuster are all in severe trouble and have very limited presence on the highstreet now. CEX and Game are both big enough that they can easily afford to be part of whatever licensing scheme they need to be a microsoft authorized retailer

The only people who may lose out will be the small independents. But MS haven't said how this will work and for all we know even the independents may be able to get MS authorised retailer approval.

I like this guy. :p

Lets just wait another 5-7 hrs and then decide what all the fuss is about :)

That is assuming that Microsoft clear up all grey areas.

Hope after those 7 odd hours we'll all be on here talking about the games.

Yeah me to, I'm hoping the games will blow us away.

I reckon the games will be awesome. Even though people are talking about it being underpowered compared to PS4 (not a tech person so dont know what the numbers mean ;)), the Xbox One will be far superior to anything we have just now.

So in that regard, the games should look great

I reckon not, normally the killer apps appear 18 months to 2 years after the release of a console. Not this Christmas but the next will be the wait time. hard to get excited by stuff so far away.

I can't wait for all the sequels we can get on the new consoles playing safe because costs continue to escalate. The odds of getting much in the way of new IP stuff for release, very slim but if shiny better graphics makes you all stiff you could be well away.

We could end up with a quite 18 months while we wait for the decent stuff to arrive, i'm really looking forward to that too.

Their was a VERY in-depth explanation from a high end games dev about the so called much better power of the PS4, he basically rubbished it and the GDDR5, mostly talking about the latency issue with it, so he basically wrote no ones really gonna see anything massive. He went into crazy technical terms, but the upshot was whilst their will be differences, it wont be massive.

Of course better games\graphics tend to arrive 2yrs+ into a console lifecycle as developers are able to program games better, but that doesn't mean anything shown today at E3 wont look better.

I cant say shiny better graphics make me all stiff, but whatever floats your boat...

I hadn't heard that, only read what the scaremongerers are saying on this forum ;)

Either way, still looking forward to hear more about the Xbox One. My biggest concern is the 2nd hand games market, all the Kinect and pinging MS every 24hrs info doesn't really affect\bother me.

I struggle to see why Sony would spend billions on high speed ram when, as you say it will create no benefit.

Ram Bandwidth on video cards is absolutely critical to the performance of them, especially at the resolutions that they are aiming for.

The power of the GPU in both of the machines is leagues apart also, and there's fairly substantiated rumors MS is reserving more of the hardware for os redundancy. It could end up that the PS4 runs games at 1080p and the Xbox a much lower resolution to keep up.

Saying that if they are both DRM infestation control fests it won't matter to me as I won't be getting any.

You never linked to your source?

Will you be buying a ps4 if that had DRM? Hasn't a lot of newer pc games got DRM built in now anyway?

I paid 24 quid for Grid 2 on the pc, I can install it on any pc I want and I go on holiday without a net connection and play it there.

I could even play Saints Row the Third for free for the weekend and buy it and all its DLC for 5 quid if I liked it.

If the consoles provide an eco system like that they can crack on, you'll not hear a peep from me.

What a silly question... Of course he wont

Well with some many people saying they won't buy a console cos of DRM and the possibility of both consoles having DRM and pc games getting DRM to, what's everybody going to do? Never buy another game again?
I think it's all been blown out of proportion, publishers set DRM not Microsoft.
As I said in earlier post if have a 24hr check stops hacked online games then am fine with that, everybody here has the net or why would u be posting on a forum?
