**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

It's gaming spec has took a hit as a compromise to the other stuff though.

We don't know the difference in spec will actually make though. The PS3 on paper is more powerful than the 360, but graphics look the same on both, especially the multiplats.

Games are about more than raw graphics anyway. And the Kinect alone beats out on features available to developers. It is not like with the 360, not some extra peripheral most gamers don't have. Every XB1 gamer will have kinect, MS have guaranteed that, so developers don't have to worry about the kinnect features being wasted time and resources. I think we will see some really good uses for it over the next gen. Voice commands for menus, npc squad mates etc at the very least will become the norm.

I was set on the PS4 when MS announced the no game sales and always online, now then have been eased back on (im fine with once a day) its back to being very close. Do I want kinect (I like my voice commands even just for the dash/netflix and it worked well in ME3) or PSN+?

Great, awesome, fantastic.

But he clearly has no knowledge of gamers. Just look at what has happened since E3.

Yeah I don't think he's very good at communicating, and especially with the core market. The bulk of the blame for the sea of miscommunication and vagueness has to fall at his feet.

exactly

The whole system should have been thought through for people like the armed forces who won't ever have internet connections when on 6 months tours of Afghanistan.

We don't know what the graphic will look like on the Xbone though because they were all running on PC a E3.

I wish people would give this a rest. Yes they may have been running on a PC, but if you think that it won't look exactly the same on the Xbox One you're deluding yourselves. It's not like the developers go "Right, let's make the game look as amazing as possible, then when everyone likes how it looks, we'll scale it back for the consoles".

Developers design games around the hardware they will eventually run on, not the systems they are programmed on.

As far as I'm concerned unless a game is running on the actual hardware it's going to be released on then it's not set what a game will look like & if you think that extra graphical bells & whistles are not added to stage demos at shows like E3 then you are more then a little deluded yourself! we have seen it time & time again not just from MS.

a game can look as incredible as you like running on any hardware

I can run any game at full resolution, with all the eye candy on integrated graphics. Now......actually playing the game at a decent framerate is another matter.

So, yeah, the games could look the same as on those PCs but might not be able to run at the same frame rate. Those PCs might have been running 100fps+ where the xbox might only be able to manage 60

Pretty sure I read it confirmed that Forza 5 was running off the box anyway?
I believe you are correct on that Forza 5 was running on the actual hardware, but I'm pretty sure that was the only MS game that was, though I can't be 100% so if anyone can disprove that then I bow to their wisdom.

I like the fact people are saying that the reason for his leaving is down to the Xbox One PR debacle. Someone in his position would likely have to give several months notice of their intent to leave, so this has been known in MS for some time. Quite why they would let someone who is leaving be the face of their new console is a different question altogether.

Exactly this. Also, do you think he'd be able to just walk into Zynga and become CEO in such a short amount of time or has this been set up for months?

As for him being the face of the console, he was the president of the division, people would ask questions as to why he wasn't there if someone else did it.

Has it? Where is there any information saying they held back on specs due to Kinnect for instance?

Its all there to see. More expensive inferior hardware to cater for the Kinect, No thanks.

Memory : More complicated subpar DDR3 set up
Graphics : PS4 has 50% more shaders

This is going to be a much greater gap between 360/PS3.

You appear to have a pc according to your sig. You must have a good idea what the differences between the two GPU's will mean.

Forza looks great in motion (which is all that matters really.) same as GT6. You can see compromises in stills though and they've omitted stuff like rain and night time racing because of performance.

Turn 10 even admitted as much.

I do indeedy. Diddly squat if developers don't put it to use. Are publishers going to pay for the extra dev time if it wont bring in extra profit?

How many times have PC gamers complained about lazy ports? You think this will be any different? First time for everything I guess? The bets we are likely to see is the same performance on both systems being seen as "good enough" by publishers.

I think Turn 10 have omitted a few things due to time more than anything. They're committed to making Forza 5 a launch title. I think if they had more time they could add night time racing and weather effects in if they wanted to.
