**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Kotaku just posted that the XBOX ONE will require an internet connection at least once every 24 hours.
This will upset quite a lot of people, i really hope they bring some big exclusives at E3 to counter this.

had to be the case didn't it
it's like the one show and their army of laughers and applauders

anyway, it looks bloody huge and ugly, and i hope they haven't arsed with the controller too much
but if its fast and powerful and silent etc i'll be getting it

Not cool :( I know people mock Apple events and such, but at least the inexplicable cheers claps and hoots are from press and tech folk, not paid employees!

The Amish will be furious.
LOL :)

This always on/on once a day connectivity doesn't bother me. It would if I lived in a country with crap internet, but I suspect a £400 console would not be on my list of priorities if living in such a place!

Why not just call it an Xbox? Xbox One - eh? Too many cooks
Hoping for Virtual Reality support and an Intel Processor.

Awful, never been so disappointed.
Lets hope for Halo. on an out of date processor

Any idea of it will include or exclude the kinect? If that includes kinect that's not a bad price at all, if it excludes kinect, then It's expensive.
Although the retailer leaks aren't always reliable.

i am fairly sure it was mentioned that the console comes with Kinect (there may be other SKUs but all will have Kinect). Also some sites mention that the console won't even work if Kinect is not plugged in, but I reckon that will not be the case.

it is donkeys years too early to ditch physical media and anyone who thinks otherwise is daft. Lot's of the world now has 100mb internet connections and faster, a lot, but in the grand scheme of things huge huge portions of the western world have crap internet, lots of people with good internet have it heavily capped(though MS/sony/whoever could arrange with countries for isp's to unlimit game downloads from their servers, won't change the time taken though).

I doubt if there was a next generation in 7 years that it would be a good idea to go without physical media, though at that stage maybe making it an external optional device would be a start for a move to online only delivery.

And when the servers fall over and die like Simcity servers, still won't bother you then? or years on, feel like going back and playing a classic and the servers are gone, still all good?

Kinect? who cares. we want to play games not exercise or make the room look pretty.

The virtual reality kit should be the new xbox
It's not even close to being ready. VR on console is something for the future.

Kinect is an entirely reasonable proposition, and hopefully will make Sony decide to put the new Eye into every PS4 box too.

And it doesn't mean exercise/mini games. It's voice activation, gestures for convenience when doing normal stuff. It's a very welcome addition. Nobody will force you to prance about.
