It's a polished gaming HTPC without the freedom to customise it to your own liking.
I've seen various technologies merge over the years and this is a logical progression, but it does still sadden me that the days of simply pressing start and immersing yourself into a game without all the distractions of life surrounding you is going the way of the dinosaur.

I know what you mean. I want to hermit in my room, curtains closed and play a game for hours straight. I know you can technically still do this but it doesn't feel the same having to navigate the guff to start the game

If the leaks are true, which at this point they appear to be, then the Xbox One has 50% less shader power and much worse memory bandwidth than the PS4, PS4 first party games are going to look much, much better than Xbox One games in the hands of Naughty Dog and Sony Santa Monica.

We really need to start again. A games machine should be a very exciting thing. This machine should have a Virtual Reality Unit goggles. Otherwise boring
Pretty sure you'll be able to put a disc in and play a game on the Xbox much faster than the previous generation, simply because it is more powerful. It should autoplay too, assuming that is an option as usual. So I don't what 'guff' you're referring to really.

I'm surprised people think it's ugly. I wouldn't call it beautiful, but it's inconspicuous enough. I kinda think that's deliberate, that it's meant to blend in under your TV rather than stand out. Seems to be large enough and flat enough that the sky box con go on top without any worries.
That's the fan intake/exhaust, wouldn't be a good idea to cover that up.

It's been there since it was live... the event starts about 1 hour in.
The push on technology gave them a platform. I don't worry about the world, just it's proving how bizarre and stupid so much of this kind of stuff is about nowadays.
