**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Who cares what it looks like. It's square and black like almost everything else under the TV anyway. Go out and buy a HiFi CD player today and tell me it aren't square and black, or an Amplifier. Moaning about a square plastic casing lol would it be better if it were like a pink beach ball?

The end of the day, it's a machine that deliver content, it's budget is spent inside and not outside, it's not a premium £2,000 CD player with aluminium facade and laser cut edges. A square box is fine, just remember to look at the screen when you play games, not the box, that's why you bought it in the first place.

Think more like a bloke, not a bunch of girls!

Yeah I have to say, it was an awful unveiling. Seems good if you like kinect? Only good thing to come from it was us pc users will get a sweet new control pad. Early days though, looking forward to E3.

So, care to point out which points you believe are garbage? As blithely stating it's garbage is no better than what you are implying that I'm doing.

Well, the fact that you waltz into a thread with no posts previous and start hurling abuse at everybody who has posted in it thus far. For the record it doesn't look like any other piece of AV equipment, it looks like two plastic bricks stuck together, I mean they could have at the very least made each side look uniform but obviously that was too much for them.

Then there was the fact that the couldn't even be clear about the whole DRM issues surrounding the mandatory installation of games. It was probably the most important thing which they HAD to be clear about and they messed that up, resulting in huge amounts of confusion by even the gaming press, I'm still not sure what the deal with it is 100% because Microsoft haven't bothered to properly explain, and will not go into detail regarding second hand purchases.

Also, we had what, Forza as the only decent game shown? Others were Modern Borefare 25, I mean Ghosts, FIFA 29 and a bunch of US-only sports channels which will matter precisely 0% to us Europeans. It's ugly, it's overly complicated, it's centered entirely around Kinect and US television and on top of that it has some horrific DRM built right into it.

There has been fanboyism in this thread for sure, but there are people who seem to think not liking something = fanboyism, so...

Disappointed with the reveal especially the skimming over the specs, it's like they knew the ps4 has the upper hand in this department, what concerned me the most is the 3 os running but no mention of any additional hardware to run some of this (eg a low power chip and extra ram for the tv/dvr features) add in the enhanced kinect and other gimmicks and your left wondering how many resources are left available purely for gaming compared to ps4

The thread has been open for less than a day, and I have hardly insulted everyone, merely expressed my distaste at the more pathetic posts. In fact, there are quite a few people I have agreed with, but also people who are posting absolute rubbish.

For the record it doesn't look like any other piece of AV equipment, it looks like two plastic bricks stuck together, I mean they could have at the very least made each side look uniform but obviously that was too much for them.

It looks like most of the kit from both my mum's AV stack and my dad's hifi stack, not to mention several of my friends' equipment. I would provide the multitude of similar looking things I found within 2 seconds on google images but I don't want to use up my entire photobucket space rehosting them.

Then there was the fact that the couldn't even be clear about the whole DRM issues surrounding the mandatory installation of games. I hadn't even addressed that point in my previous post, so I'm not sure why you are including this at all.

This, however, I did touch on. As have several other people in the thread. It wasn't a games announcement, it was a features announcement.

This I agree with. However I have not stated that not liking something = fanboyism, it's the more vitriolic posts given without a reason that I touched on.

their share price is at a 5 year high. Now they've had their slip with the beginning death of the pc market, but they still make TONNES of money investors are more confident than ever.

Like a lot of stocks, the MS share price is higher than it might be because it's a good dividend stock, thanks to its fairly steady income from business software and services, and at the moment money is desperately seeking yield. So it's a very tricky time to establish true value.

One the whole I think the One, if it works as well as advertised in your average tiny British living room, could be a very useful media centre. But I doubt I'll be able to afford it. It's not going to be cheap unless they want to repeat the losses made on earlier hardware. So it'll be a few years before it gets to a price I'm prepared to pay, and by then they should have worked all the kinks out.

PS Funny vid which may have been posted already:

Okay, and I'll do the same with things that don't look like they just laminated something from a building site.

I included some of my views on the keynote because you were complaining that people were complaining about vague or unimportant issues such as how it looks etc. I was just giving you some other examples of things people might be a little bit peeved about, it's not JUST the way it looks, it's all the other crap as well. Not that it really matters, in the end it's the games which will decide how good the console is to me personally.

If you can find somewhere where Microsoft said "this is a feature announcement not a games announcement" that'd be great. :)

Mentioning "vitriolic posts" and then glancing at your first post in this thread I simply cannot help myself but to bask in the sheer hypocrisy.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Thankyou for clarifying. I'm also none too happy with the preowned game stance and the always on state. I agree on the point about the games, as I said whichever console has the best exclusives will most likely get my money.

I apologise for my incorrect wording, it was a reveal. However a reveal is still not a games announcement.

Fair point. I'm sure you can understand my frustration with, well, what I'm frustrated about. Maybe I didn't put it across in the right way but still, it's hardly garbage just for that.

Good job on failing to post anything coherent, or even trying to refute any of my points. Well done, have a star.

Actually, that's 33.3r%

But fair enough. I guess we'll see which OS makes the most out of the hardware. Remember, Microsoft will be able to offload a reputedly unlimited amount of processing to the cloud.

And Sony won't? Who pays for all the bandwidth dev's decide to use for cloud processing?
