**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

So they are virtually the same, except for the two parts which matter to games the most, both of which PS4 has a massive advantage in. OK :)

The issue Sony have with this is that all non-exclusive next-gen games will be coded for the lowest performing console. So they won't benefit from any additional shader performance.

With Microsoft already having EA, Remedy and Infinity Ward in their pocket, looks like all their games will be developed 1st and foremost for the Xbox.

Massive advantage? Did you read that Anandtech article?

The memory bandwidth is a moot point as the use of eSRAM negates much of the inherent bandwidth advantage that GDDR5 has:

Depending on how the eSRAM is managed, it’s very possible that the Xbox One could have comparable effective memory bandwidth to the PlayStation 4.

This is my personal opinion and the way I game.

I'm currently playing FIFA 13 and Super Street Fighter 4 AE on my Xbox 360 and Battlefield 3, Bioshock Infinite and Tomb raider on my PC.

I play FIFA 13, SF4 and BF3 online exclusivle don't touch the single player. So as long as the MP side of these new consoles is great I'll be happy. I'll never use Skype, Kinect, stream media or any other of that stuff. All I need the Xbox One to be is an Xbox 360 but more powerful (which it is) and have great MP support (which the 360 does so I'm sure the next gen Live will).

One thing that's really putting me off and makes me not like MS as much is the whole pre owned games saga. I hate their idea of having to pay a fee to play pre owned games, it's morally wrong and hits the high street shops hard. And what's going to happen to all these SP games you've competed to death and no longer want, your friends can't play them unless they pay a fee to MS! If the fee is like £3 then I won't mind, any higher than that then I will be seriously considering getting a PS4 this time round.

On a side note, will they still be making games like FIFA and COD for the 360 and PS3?

so suddenly it's ok for not having a included headset, something the ps3 got slated for last gen, seems Sony is the one doing the right thing this time, another + for gamers

depends

If the headset costs say £30 and it was included, the package price would therefore increase £30

Those people who don't want a headset will be paying £30 for something they don't want

Obviously reality is very different and the console will cost £399/£499 with or without a headset. Not including it just means more profit for MS

This gen will be very different as the architectures of the two are the same, just with the PS4 having more raw power. There will be no problems with porting over different platforms, So I suspect that the advantage in PS4 versions of multiplat games will mostly be resolution, FPS and AA. Maybe textures as well.

I fully expect exclusive PS4 games to be far better than anything possible on the X1.

The massive advantage is mainly the GPU, but the RAM is actually a larger advantage than it seems when you consider X1 is reserving 3GB for the OS, and PS4 is using only 1. So in reality its 5GB DDR3 vs 7GB GDDR5. :)

Well FIFA 13 was on the PS2 so I'd say they have a good few years left yet :p. CoD is harder to guess at as they only started coming to consoles with the 360 but I doubt they'll prevent a still massive market from buying their games for a good few years.

Questions

1 - why are people picking a console and taking sides this early when no one has had their hands on one?
2 - why are people deciding what console to buy purely on spec on paper? Faster CPU doesn't always mean better games. Neo Geo anyone?
3 - why are people moaning about more features? It's not like they took away the gaming element.
4 - why are people complaining about the name?
5 - why are people complaining about the looks? It will change, the PS3 has like 3 incarnations, this will too.

None of those should play a part right now on your decision, if you are as passionate about GAMING as you claim to be, then games is all you should care about, nothing else. Not its spec, not the looks, not other extra features, not even its name.

What you should be doing, instead of moaning about how ugly it is, is to wait until it is launched, see what games are out and decide which one to buy.

If the PS4 does give significant improvement in visuals and frame rate for the same game.

Buy the PS4.

If the Xbox offers more exclusive titles that you are after.

Buy the Xbox.

Gamers care about games.

If I were a developer I'd develop for Xbox One and then add some extra bells and whistles to the graphically superior PS4 version, but as we've seen this generation most multiplatform developers are lazy so you might just get the same exact version. Wouldn't the extra GPU power allow free shader based AA?

Do you have a video showing the same game on XBOX ONE and PS4

Would love to see it

Im not sure how much it can be said, it was a console launch, games is coming at E3.

Why....why is this a hard concept to understand?

Why would MS want to completely have their launch dominated by games when they know they are setting that up for E3, it was even said before this that was the plan.

Its not like you can go and buy it now, plus they are going to hold back a lot of stuff to keep interest going.

Live memberships can also used by multiple profiles. That means several accounts can be created on one console, for discrete friends lists, personal Home screens and the like, but they'll all be able to feed off the same subscription.

Good news there, switching between account all the time to get online is frustrating.
