**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Apparently the DF footage was not captured correctly as makes the ps4 footage looked washed out. All other footage from IGN and likes does not show this.

While this could well be true, I think it's funny how the moment the Xbox One has something that looks better, it's because the PS4 footage wasn't captured correctly.

I'm sure the PS4 will look better in the end, but why can't we just settle on saying that both versions look great, but they're still lagging behind the PC overall? Isn't that enough?

What's funny about it? Not about looking better, it's about one looking washed out and looking at videos from a wide variety of sources shows that.

It's the blur, the PS4 images seem to be blury.

It looks like the messed with the contrast and sharpness on the XB1 version to try and hide some of its faults, which has made is appear sharper but also increases the aliasing issues and has ruined the detail in darker areas of the game (everything looks black without any detail)

TBH, all I'm seeing with this BF4 stuff is the same that happened with the 360 and PS3. Multi-platform games looking slightly different to each other due to the development tools, but essentially, unless you micro-analyse each frame like these fan-boy "experts/insiders" are, the same.

I don't see how purchasers of either console will be disappointed. 5 years down the line the gap will be bigger, just like it is now with PS3 exclusives generally looking exceptional, but that will be some way off.

I'm just glad I'm getting both :p

Whilst not one to say someone is talking BS it doesn't make sense that the popular YT'ers go to all this effort to do comparison videos yet they didn't 'capture it right'. Surely that would be your main objective?

Agree, both look great but if XO is only running at 720 Vs 900 and looks better then I'm excited to see what the XO can offer in the long run.

Haven't there been reports of reviewers having problems capturing footage from the PS4? Actually this is from the PS thread
So far it looks like there are gonna be concerns about journalists having the ability to review and edit direct-feed PS4 footage as they arent being given PS4 dev kits and with the retail PS4 at launch having HDCP protection for games theyll have to go a roundabout way to get that so thats not ideal, but I dont think it affects informed consumers, nor the built in sharing.
so maybe that's why the PS4 looks washed out
I'm not bashing the X1 version of BF4 as I think both versions look rather good.

It's digital foundry that had capture issues, the jackfrags guy on youtube seems to have better footage:

Still youtube compression though :(

So, really, their little to no difference unless you anal about it, and if anything for ALL the BS spouted by "sources" that are looking more and more rubbished each day, the XO version is fine?

It's hard to tell which is incorrect, but it looks to me like they've completely fudged the HDMI levels for the X1 footage. Quite an impressive mess up for a comparison website! You'd think the first thing they'd do is calibrate the brightness/contrast levels.

That's the best image at showing the differences. Slightly 'washed' out on PS4 version, noticeable jaggies and lack of dark detail on XB1 version

No doubt it looks better on PS4 to me. The brightness is completely off for the X1, looks like they've got expanded output but standard level capture, losing everything 0-16 & 235<.
