**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

What the game "Feels like" is just as important as what the game "looks like" after all whats the point in playing the likes of COD once you get near a group of people the game play slows down , and next thing you know you are dead :) so "Hands on" experience" will be just as important as You tube videos showing graphics.
perfect example was me "trying" to play Nascar 2013 last night,, the game looks pretty good,, but man the cars handle like you are trying to stear a boat ,,lol even though i have changed so many settings :)

Was looking at buying a PS4, however now looking at the Xbox as I stream videos from PS3 media server to the PC.

My question is, will I be able to do this on the xbox one (5.1 HD etc?) - I'm not that techy (am I right in saying I can, but I have to do this all via the PC?) and its a massive deal breaker understanding that the PS4 cannot do this.

I ordered both a PS4 and an XO. Cancelled the PS4 cos' I thought the XO would have comparable performance, better controller and better live.

Now wondering whether I made a mistake (esp due to the 720p COD stuff). Maybe I should just sit out the first 2-3 months until we really know the pros and cons of each box...

When do the first (in depth hands-on) reviews come out ?

CoD isn't a fair comparison. It could be 420p and still look the same.

If image quality is important to you then the PS4 will serve you better in the long run, especially with multi plats running at higher native res's.

Do you honestly think in a years time they won't look identical?

Im quite sure they will be.
Not a chance I expect, compare it to the PS3 that was as difficult to code for but didnt have the substantial differences in spec - the best looking games on it came from their first party studios who put the effort in to working out how to use the Cell.

MS just doesnt have that investment in first party, so what talent will they use to get over the eSRAM issue, let alone claw back the performance delta? I wouldnt expect third parties, even with exclusives, will put in the effort/resources that a first party would, let alone have the pool of knowledge to do so...

Launch titles are suffering launch issues and thats to be expected and to be honest its painting a worse picture than it is, when you look at theoretical performance (the COD issue is just silly when you look at what the performance difference is). I think the XO will just utilise a resolution decrease (720 vs 900; 900 vs 1080) to keep up with the PS4 version - but we are already used to that with this generation, so its not that new. TBH devs are doing the platform a favour doing it that way than to have resolution parity...

Although this gen we havent seen close to the gap that's being displayed now.

Though I agree, there are tricks/effects that developers will use to get around things - Forzas a good example of that - fidelity isnt all important when something looks good enough, especially when you just wont have the side-by-side comparion to exacerbate the difference. Neither platform is going to produce poor experiences at all, but not to acknowledge the difference or to assume it will magically disappear just isnt a sensible thing to say...

People are still forgetting Microsoft is a software company, of course the gap is going to close visually.

As me and many others have said, its not about the graphics, its about gameplay.

Indeed. I have an expensive PC setup but I really missed the whole console community, as in Xbox Live. I find PC gaming a very lonely experience, mainly as none of my RL friends game on them. I'll always have a PC but I think in terms of gaming I should just stick to consoles.

I'm finding this, and it's making me turn more and more towards consoles again. I'll always have a PC, but i'll always want a games console.
