**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Ok, I have a question for you all, especially those that have said they will dump XBOX now for PS4 as you want gaming first. If everything else stays the same, what would your reaction be if either at E3 of before release they announced illumiroom add on for Xbox for say, £120?

It's not a loaded question and who knows, I was just pondering if MS have really have cocked up the hardware thing, and if they have on face value, is it because in part they have something else up their sleeves?

Would that potentially change perception for gamers?

From what I've seen so far I'll be jumping ship from XBOX to Playstation. 'Illumiroom', especially if it costs a premium, doesn't change a thing... just another gimmick that I'd likely never use.

Microsoft have been going down this route for a while now, blabbing on about 'owning the living room' and making XBOX the centrepiece for all your home entertainment. All they need to do is allow it to stream all your digital content and online services, like Netflix, and not charge a subscription for it!

There is no way on earth I'll switch on my XBOX to watch TV, what's the point?

As far as games go, what's left of Microsoft's exclusives? Halo has been done to death and then there's.... erm?

many sentiments on here mirror mine

I love my 360 and have done for many happy years

but I love to play games..and as far as I can see the ps4 is going to give me a better gaming experience simply due to its better hardware

and as somebody else said..maybe a change of platform exclusives will be nice

No more naked gaming sessions?

Or squeezing a cheeky fart out whilst picking my nose and humping the mrs....

well I have pre-ordered this with a number of games (BF4, COD, AC4, Destiny, Quantum Break) and extra controller. I just hope that when they announce the release date at E3 I am not in the US as it will kill me having to wait and pick it up.

I love everyone jumping to polarised conclusions after one introductory keynote of less than an hour and some guesstimated hardware specs. Take a look at the launch hardware when it launches then make your mind up based on experiences.

People are jumping to conclusions based on what MS have told them.

That is not "peoples" fault is it not?

they are not guessed specs though

we know the ps4 has faster RAM and a better graphics solution, more memory bandwidth and a better fill rate

I dont see how anybody can argue as many sites are reporting the hardware specs

I am not going to blindly pre-order so I can sit and wait and see. but at the minute one platform had better hardware than the other

MS have not released full hardware specs. They're drip feeding out the information as is their right. All I'm saying is make a rational decision when it actually arrives with some completed software to run on it.

The base hardware doesn't always determine the end user experience - look at the original Wii. Proclaiming "I'm going PS4 cause the XO doesn't have enough CUs" or whatnot based on incompete information is just silly and wasting everyones time.

If those specs are legit there is no getting away from the fact that the PS4 would be noticeably quicker by a fair bit. But then it comes down to optimization and the developers.

We had Red Dead Redemption that ran at a lower res on ps3 compared to 360.
Unyet we have games such as the uncharted series and the upcoming Last of us which rival anything else out there and look superb.

If Sony don't go down the line of paying to playing 2nd hand games and if they offer a decent PS+ service like they do currently I think it's going to be a no brainer.

And again:

Unsurprisingly non-exclusive games will be developed for the Xbox as there would be no point losing sales just to take advantage of a little more gpu power.

One platform doesn't have better hardware than the other. The PS4 has a small graphical advantage but lacks the majority of extra features that the Xbox has.

Good luck trying to use Kinect / a 360 controller / Live / TV, on your PS4.

How did you discover that Red Dead ran at a lower resolution? I guarantee you didn't notice that yourself. You would never notice it as a gamer unless you were paid to compare games for a living.

Tomb Raider was graphically better than Uncharted. Which was on both systems. 1st party Sony games haven't necessarily done the best with the PS3 hardware.

Personally I could not give a flying **** about Kinect, Live (especially if its paid like at the moment) and TV.
I will give you the 360 controller though :p because I do find that control pad much much MUCH better than the PS3.

I want a games console. I don't want to be waving my hands in the air like I just don't care :p. I certainly don't care about the TV stuff as well I have my PC hooked up to my TV to stream stuff. As far as I'm concerned my PC is and always will be my media hub.

But that all said, we didn't really get showed much of the gaming side to XO. So E3 roll on !

I'm moving to PS4. Just because its more of a gamers machine.

I don't need a US centric device that wants to own the living room. I won't use the TV function of Xbox One.

I'm sorry, but the Xbox One sounds like it wants to be the jack of all trades, but the master of non. For that I can't invest, and im out!

Thats my fair opinion, so please don't tell me im wrong.
