Kinect is still a separate peripheral, but comes with the console (I think, has that actually been confirmed?)

The Xbox One is not backwards compatible.

Thanks for clearing that up, i have no use for the kinect myself so wouldnt see myself connecting it up or anything.

Shame its not backwards compatible, would have been a good feature..guess that means soon ill trading in all my 360 games against the Xbox one games.

I'm sure after they have shown some fancy Forza footage and Halo 5 at E3 people will be more inclined to order one.

The thing that a lot seem to be forgetting or ignoring (including me) is that the Xbone is going to be around for a while. It's not a buy/not buy scenario whereif you don't buy one immediately you're never going to have one. So really no-one should be dissing it. The PS3 turned itself around from dismal launch to success over the six years it's been on sale.

One might be leaning towards PS4 initially but I'd say most will own both within 5 years.

For me it will depend on the new exclusives, as much as I love Forza I wouldn't buy the console just for Forza 5, I'm not a Halo or Gears fan and I've never loved Fable. Going on current exclusive franchises Microsoft have nothing that would make me buy their new console, but if they bring out some interesting new games I would be interested. The difference for me is that Sony have more exclusives that suit my tastes, and I'd buy the Playstation 4 purely on the fact that those exclusives are almost certain to have sequels. Personally I haven't discounted buying an Xbox One, but I'm already resigned to purchasing a PS4.

I think most will get a ps4 then a wii u before the xbone.

I'm 100% waiting for E3 before I make any decisions.

All I'm reading are knee jerk reactions to a console (not games) announcement. Now ofc they are going to brag about it being the all in one machine for the front room because that's what they want it to be. They've not said they're doing it at the cost of gaming at this time and haven't made any mention of in game advertisements etc. People have gone mental over the fact that Microsoft have showcased the tv aspect / multi-tasking. Which let's be fair, is more than we got for the ps4 announcement (a pad).

Now I'm neither a Sony or Microsoft fanboi, as I own both current gen consoles. I will predominantly game on my console, as I have little time for tv (nor the inclination to watch much), so I will be closely watching the new IPs that are announced at E3 and the expected console exclusives that are due over the next 12 months. The console with the better games will be the one that gets my cold hard cash first. I will most likely own both in due course.

Note - I also don't see what the fuss is about re: Kinect. Y'know you can turn the camera around and the console will still work if you are concerned that it's reading your heart rate / body temps for the purpose of sales.

2 things I would like to see...

If the new Kinect really can detect heart rates. We need horror games that make use of this and tailer the "scares" to the user. The game really could know the exact moment to get the best effect, keep the fear topped up etc.

Always on kinect, and facebook integration. "Woden and Mrs Woden spent 5 mins exercising last night, must try harder Woden!".
