**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Probably just a far simpler version of this camera I saw when going for a job interview at Epson. The thing would tell you if your ill and tell you to go home and not work that day and everyone had to go through it, there was an infra red image on a monitor of you :D

Well you'll have to otherwise the console won't function... :p

Ok then im out, ill just hang onto my 360 for the time being....i just hope Microsoft give us an option to have it connected or not.

If they force us to have kinect always on then **** you Microsoft..its beyond stupidity for them to force you to have it connected when people like me, have absolutely no use for kinect.

But how else are you going to change the channel and pause films ?!

What happens if you were to stuff the kinect in a cupboard out of sight and use a joypad like most people?

It will still hear you masturbating, but no one at MS headquarters will watch you, so definitely an improvement. Meh, it will probably, when locked away, have legs come out and move itself, push the door open a crack and watch you through it..... :o

Hehe, seriously the new gen thing I'm most intrigued about is that because the PS4 is so close to pc architecture(even to the point it will be optimised for bandwidth rather than deploying fancy edsram tricks to minimise bandwidth use) there is more potential for direct open gl ports of PS3 games onto PC. It will be very interesting to see what a fully written and optimised for AMD cpu/gpu and openGL could do on the PC as Direct X on the pc, well basically all the big game dev's say direct x is hell on pc and introduces huge overheads and performance trouble vs the same situations on consoles.

With the PS3, as it was such different hardware anyway it was easier to go completely multiplatform, make it dx for the 360 and make the windows version from that. With Valve pushing linux and OpenGL, with PS3 on openGL, we might see some ps3 exclusives get later releases on the PC, but not the Xbox.

What I'd love is for game devs to dump direct x and then in the long term, be able to choose to game on Linux OR a PC, with a API controlled by game dev's and maybe AMD/Nvidia vs MS getting to control direct X. Free and small/optimised LInux install over Windows I'd take any day, but for a gaming PC is currently out of the question.

Xbox is going the other way, further locking in customers, pushing windows onto the Xbox, forcing things to be connected, continuing trying to lock gaming to direct X.

Does anyone think Sony/MS will cash in on porting Xbox 360/PS3 games to the next generation as "remastered" versions like they do now with PS2 stuff? Full 1080p60 with improved textures and anti-aliaising? :p

About 'stuffing Kinect in a cupboard'

MS have made it a requirement to have Kinect operational for the console to function. Do you honestly think they haven't anticipated this scenario?

The console will probably give you an on-screen error that it can't detect a user, and you still won't be able to do anything with the console.

I 100% expect you to have to use the thing properly, given how much time, effort, R&D and money they've plowed into Kinect. Even pointing it at a photo of you won't work, because of the IR/heart monitor thing.

Kinect is the like the key to your car. Unless you plug it in and use it, the car (XBox) won't go anywhere.

 You mean publishers? How is it MS/Sony? (well unless they happen to be the publishers for the game, not sure how many Sony have done but I think MS have only done Halo, which was basically a remake for the anniversary)

I hope so, I'd love a Halo Trilogy remake. Anniversary made me desperate to play through 2 again, not sure how achievable a remaster 2 gens back is though.

I'm perfectly fine with them, getting 2-3 great games for $30-$40 that look better than ever what's bad about that :p.

Oh, I'm not complaining at all! I would shell out for remastered versions of many games if they had better textures. I'm looking at you, Bioshock.

I wouldn't mind remastered versions. There are some really great games from our past that the younger gamers just never got to enjoy.

* I can't see you Dave. Please prove you are in the room before I can start Gears of War Dave. *

*By the way Dave please reconnect to the Internet I won't send Microsoft what I recorded last night Dave. *

*I promise Dave. *

Seriously MS can suck the fat one with the Xbone as far as I am concerned.
