**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

It wasn't down completely but for about 2 weeks at xmas 2007 live was incredibly bad. They did give us Undertow as reward for this though :D

Yeah I mentioned the Christmas thing, it wasn't down, it was profile's that people were trying to download off the server was dodgy but even that worked if you tried it enough times :p

Despise how big companies are allowed to bully their way to domains they wnt.
To be fair a lot of the time these domain names are registered as a speculative attempt to hope they get paid off to release them. No idea if this is the case this time although the domain does just seem to be parked with no actual use

As for the always on Kinnect, the camera can read your heartbeat and body temperature (emotional reactions) and can monitor your reactions to commercials, political speeches that can sold to data miners and advertisers. Why you think there so many tv features in the new game console. It's one step closer to Orwells 1984

Or it could recognise the movements and sounds of love-making and initiate a Skype call to your parents.

Am I the only one that finds "xbone" childish? Ive not done anything like that since I was 12 with the gaystation

i just don't want a camera always watching me, call me weird fine but just no!
and every few months or so we lose internet on the island, some years it's great but some years it goes down for a week+ and that means no gaming on xbgrrrrmenewtexturesdog!

No different to my mobile phone, surely?

Also ... why does the cost of Live go up with every attack on the xbox? It is no where near £50 a year, jesus. It takes what, 30 seconds to check this? £35 a year or your account details stolen and almost a month solid of no online play at all? Tough choice, honesty.

Hey, that's not all that bad in 7 years of ps3 ownership. One month downtime and i got two free games for the privilege. I'm fine with it. Aren't you?

No surprises there then,

"As the details of the Xbox One continue to trickle out following the May 21, 2013 unveiling and the subsequent deluge of facts (some real, some not), we have one more piece of information to confirm about the console: the Xbox One will still feature regional locks.

“Similar to the movie and music industry, games must meet country-specific regulatory guidelines before they are cleared for sale,” A rep from Microsoft confirmed to Digital Trends. “We will continue to work with our partners to follow these guidelines with Xbox One.”

Regarding online and Xbox vs PS: Xbox live has always been a superior service to the free PSN. Even recently the whole thing just works better. Given the choice I would pay every time even if that money was ultimately not paying for anything concrete.

Hopefully PS4 is better out of the box with a proper store and friend capabilities. Because so far I haven't seen any games I'm even remotely interested in on the Xbox, PS4 has some good exclusives though.

Oh dear Microsoft.

Now, Germany’s Federal Data Protection Commissioner, Peter Schaar, has weighed in with his opinion of the new console via German site Spiegal: “Under the heading, game device ‘Microsoft pushes a monitoring device in the market,” Schaar told Spiegal. ”The Xbox continuously records all sorts of personal information about me. Reaction rates, my learning or emotional states. The are then processed on an external server, and possibly even passed on to third parties. Whether they will ever deleted, the person can not influence.”

The only thing PSN is missing really is party chat, but that just leads to private rooms with no-one talking to each other.

PSN+ is by far better VFM than Xbone Live it's not even funny.

Has anyone compared PSN to Live downtime over the same period.

I would daresay Live would match or even have more downtime than PSN.

Highly unlikely. XBL downtime is usually limited to a few hours or intermittent service for some users across a few days. They don't tend to have scheduled downtime for several hours as PSN does though.
