**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Just saw the CBOAT reply to Albert Penello which gave momentum to this rumour - quite funny. TBH Im more likely to believe both COD versions arent 1080p/60fps than one is and the other is 720p/30fps-60fps - I dont have much faith in the abilities of the COD devlopers at all...

ps3ud0

That's silly, not once has any recent COD been less that 60fps.

Id much rather have things at 720p and 60fps than 1080p and 30fps, I struggle to tell much difference in the resolution of things but i can on the frame rate, and I game 6 feet from a 50".

You'd think the fragile state of the gaming world, and in particular the rough ride XO has had to now they would be quick to quash these rumours not say "The resolution will be known when IW what it to be known".

All IW have to say is "Back in June 2013 we made a commitment to get Ghosts at 1080p 60FPS on next gen consoles, this is still the case today, both consoles are 1080p at 60FPS."

30 seconds to tweet that out, faith restored, this goes away as a bad rumour, why wont they?

Looking at Albert's reply, I don't think they're in a position to confirm or deny these rumours that easily when they involve third party titles. I guess people will have to wait until IW say otherwise.

720p is a blurry mess?

The way I understand it is this... look at it the real difference as not 360 pixels in vertical side, but 640 pixels in horizontal 1920x1080 vs 1280x720, plus the whole scaling (stretching) of 1280x720 to the resolution of 1920x1080 which the difference adds up to the blurry mess - pixels not represented as 1:1 ratio (assuming the game is developed in a 1080 framework).

Another perspective to look at this is 1920x1080= 2.073.600mp compared to 1280x720=0.9mp. That's over half the detail missing, assuming the game was designed in a 1080 framework.

Isn't it crazy that a console 10 times more powerful than the 360 is struggling for 1080p? I mean that's a resolution the PC passed many, many years ago in games and you don't need a powerful PC to attain that do you?

Its probably due to the bumb in scene complexity. Higher resolution textures and smoother geometry. Its funny because I bet they are less noticeable than the overall resolution. The higher textures are probably wasted. Things like Tesselation which you'll never notice.

..that's what happens when you cheap out on a decent GPU, with less than 70GB of bandwidth, in order to pay for crap like Kinnect being in the box.

..and yes I'm well aware of the 32MB of on die memory secret mega sauce, whizz bang magic, that's supposed to somehow boost bandwidth to over 160GB..lol

That's only going to work if you can fit everything into the 32mb frame buffer, but 1080p 60fps with any complexity needs more than 32mb..

This is a multimedia set top box first, gaming console second...and a complete waste of £430.

had my xo pre ordered since day one after much thought im sticking with ps4 only for the time being, might pick one up in the future when it has a price drop and bigger library of games etc

Why would they though? Lets be honest, people who were going to buy COD will still buy COD. The vast majority of people who have already pre-ordered won't know or cancel because of this rumour. Ultimately (rightly or wrongly) most people will buy games like COD on the console their friends have (regardless of resolution).
