Xbox One X

true, I have a powered USB 3 hub somewhere, at this rate the Xbox is going to have more sockets than my PC,
Main power, USB hub, Kinict adaptor, Wheel and External HDD. And that excludeds the Monitor and speakers.

Told the wife once the one X arrived i was going to manage the rats nest of cables in my office, gonna hve to buy some cable ties and velcro.

Of course it is surely? Even the Xbox one S's interface is in 4k...

No, I definitely remember it being said at the time of the S launch that it’s only upscaled to 4k. Sony said the PS4 Pro takes an extra ½GB memory for its 4k UI. IIRC, didn’t MS increase the available memory of the X to developers by the same amount?

It’s supposedly mentioned in the release notes for yesterday’s update but I can’t find a copy of said notes anywhere.

I'd rather they devoted as much of the available resources to running the game than powering the dashboard. If that means the dashboard is 1080p upscaled to 4k, so be it!

I agree, they also reduced os down to 3gb for all xbox one few months ago, allowed games to use more ram.

Was going to purchase a 4tb external, but I have a 2tb that I used on my XB1, should be plenty for me I think.
Im guessing 2tb will hold about 8-10 games+ depending on game.

I have 52 games installed on my 2 TB SSHD drive and have over 300gb free. Nothing on the internal drive at all.

Ok so some games are pushing 100gb but most of them are under 40gb,

From memory the big hitters on mine are Halo 5 over 100gb Forza 7 95gb Gears 4 around 95gb, then its GTA5, Halo MCC, Battlefield 1, maybe TF2 and Ghost recon Wildlands.

Some games like Witcher 3 are remarkably small.

BUT shadow of war is around 50-60 gb? but on the PC the 4k texture pack and movie pack comes in at around 50gb. so the growth could be huge.

Thinking i remember when a game on more than one floppy was a big deal, (mainly cause i was swapping them in the playground at school) now we are looking at 100gb of data for one game, dont think argos would have had 100,000 disks to hand, never mind cassette tapes.

Is 95gb for Forza 7 with the 4k content installed.

Is it possible to store games across multiple drives? As I have spare 500gb ssd so I could use that to start off and when it's full buy another ssd

yes and the new UI makes batch moving games very easy.

Sorry to be clear, A game has to be on one drive but you can use 2 drives (plus the internal) and move the games your playing most to the SSD.

I'm 50/50 atm as to whether I'm keeping my scorpio pre-order with amazon. What sort of money am I looking at for a grey Xbox One S boxed?

Your not going to want any of the "enhanced refresh rate" stuff turned on anyway.
For gaming its horrible and introduces input lag. My Sony 4k tv has everything turned off and is in GAME mode for my PC and XBox.

Review of LG TV http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/uj6300
Not a bad score for HDR gaming at the price.

Can't find the other one.

Do any of you have recommendations for external drives?

I see the 3.5 is the better to get for the higher spin rate but any I should look out for or avoid? Never used an external drive before with the Xbox so not sure if there are any particular requirements it needs to meet.

Thanks.

Check the type of HDR. Some say HDR but have a basic implementation of it, get the best one. Also check that its proper 4K as there is a shady version of that too. I'd say you'd most probably get more features with the Hisense (without checking reviews etc) but the quality may not be up to the LG.

Both look great for the price though.

Edit: Looking at the review provided by House the LG uses the RGBW pixel format. That's the shady implementation of 4K I mentioned. While OK I would recommend putting a little extra and get proper RGB. Don't know what the Hisense features.

I went for a SSHD and bought a usb3.0 caddy wasnt the cheapest option but was the best i was prepared to pay.

One of these https://www.overclockers.co.uk/seag...b-s-64mb-cache-oem-st2000dx002-hd-36n-se.html
In one of these https://www.overclockers.co.uk/icybox-usb-3.0-enclosure-for-3.5-sata-hdds-hd-060-bt.html

Personally i would stay away from WD external drives but that's because ive had horrible luck with them, i have a draw full of them that wont connect at all or have intermittent issues.
