Total War remains the only reason I'm not selling up. And that's only because there is no other way to play these titles (aside from Shadow, which is expensive ans has a long waiting list). They're not on console. Or Stadia. Or Geforce Now.

Very similar situation to me. I wish I could switch completely to console, but games like TW, some paradox games and those of the strategy, 4X etc are still mostly PC exclusives.

I did think about selling my desktop PC and switching to a gaming laptop to cover the PC side of things, and just selling and buying a new laptop every 3 years or so, but it seems even miners are starting to buy up every 30 series laptops now, killing that market too. Soon there won't be a PC gaming market if every GPU, desktop or mobile gets bought emasse by bloody miners.

I know you're probably a more serious PC gamer to me, but I've been staggered by what my Ryzen 4700u with bio discrete graphics card can run. I've played a fair amount of the latest Flight Simulator on it, and am currently playing through Kingdom Come without any issues. Obviously you have to be reasonable with the specs, but if you're mostly using it for strategy games it's an option

I wouldn't say I'm a serious PC gamer :P I'm not one of those that has to max out the settings or I'll have some sort of breakdown :D

Put it this way, since getting the Series X on release day, I haven't actually played any games on my desktop PC. I do however have quite a back catalog of games that would basically be lost if I ditched PC completely, and obviously any newer games released on PC only I would miss out on. I've been looking at a laptop with a 5800H/3070 GPU to last me the next 3 years or so, but it would mean forking out quite a bit of cash, and there's no guarantee that I could sell all my desktop PC parts to help offset the cost. I also worry I won't like the transition to laptop only and be stuck and have to end up selling that to move back to desktop, wasting even more money.

Yeah true. When I bought the laptop I wasn't expecting to game on it at all, but I've ended up spending time at my family's during lockdown without a console and the laptop has been great. Cost me £600 and like I say, runs my whole back catalogue and some newer games. I hook it up to the monitor and it does the job ok.

Not necessarily saying it's the way you should go, but it's been a really pleasant surprise for me!
 
any chance of the share recordings being fixed? Regularly I get a black image (you can barely make out the clip) when I've recorded game clips, drives me nuts! It's so poor compared to PS5's video recording functionality.
 
I've got a gaming PC so I didn't really feel like I needed the X. I just want to mess about and play Fifa really, think the S will be enough for that...
 
Managed to snag Xbox Series S from Argos earlier today, had no X series but I only wanted the S anyway. I am a Pc Gamer and recently upgraded to a Ryzen 5600X and an RX6800MBA. I think I may be done with PC stuff, getting crazy expensive. £249.99 is a steal for what's in that Series S and I think I will be fine on my UW monitor.

Curious why you'd buy the Xbox ontop of that pc upgrade? Seems like you just wasted money because your pc would be way more capable. Id understand if your pc was ancient and you didn't want to pay pc upgrade prices. But you already have.
 
Anyone know if you cancel a back order from shopto. Will they refund the money to your bank? Apparently I read they only give credit to your shopto account.
If I knew that I wouldn’t have put a back order for a series x.

When you cancel your back order they will put store credit onto your account. If you then raise a ticket requesting a refund they will put the money back into your bank account.

There phone lines are down during COVID so you can only request the refund with a ticket, takes about 5 days before they answer though. I had to go through this as I back ordered one myself, turned out my Fiancé had one sitting since launch day as a surprise for Christmas lol.

2 hours into a COD zombies game and I get a “time to update” screen, can’t do anything but download the update. Golf clap.

Finished Assassin's Creed and now come to the same conclusion! Listed in the MM if anyone is interested, it is a pretty good price as I used a discount, want to ensure it goes to someone genuinely after one!
