It's a bit of a slog in the middle but the beginning is good and the end is better. I don't remember the gameplay being naff though.

I am a bit of a fanboy of these games so my answer is 100% yes. The zombie dlc is great too.
The reason I bought the one x was for Red Dead 2 (coming mainly from pc), after enjoying it so much have always been curious about the original. Have also heard the dlc is good.
well technically, your actually playing them in the correct chronological order by playing RDR 1 after RDR 2
Tried it for the first time last week. You are right there is a lot to it! I was expecting minimaps and Huds etc.
Definitely needs to be played with friends to get some good sailing underway!
Yup from remembering to drop the sails, lift the anchor, not having any form of minimap but having to use a compass etc. It's really good, just a lot less hand holding than I was expecting.
Really enjoying it though and can't wait to play with a few friends.
The sea is brilliantly rendered too. When it gets rough or a kraken / sea beast appears its quite epic.
There is even a bit of a pirate code in the game. Sailing at night with lanterns off is classed as a hostile act i think. Worth reading up on to help get started.

Nah, has to install from Disc. It's only 7.49 on the store anyway atm, plus no disc needs to be inserted.

Used to play a fair bit of it last year with a couple of mates. I would switch between pc and xbox. Vertical learning curve with combat (at least for me). Can sail ok and make the money just need to be mega wary at times. It is a beautiful game, in HDR on my tv looks amazing. Agree it is defo a great experience with mates. Sloops are best all round experience as can be solo'd easily enough and gain the advantage when sailing into the wind.

Incorrect. Log in to the Xbox app on your phone and choose “Download to console” to pre load the game. This should then pre install the game and will run when you insert the disc.
Son needed a new controller for the Xbone and as they are rare to find just got him a Series X controller. Love how venom couldn't make 1200mah batteries to fit this from day one, despite the xbone ones being available and fitting and working in the series x controller but the battery cover won't fit. Had to make do with the 850mah ones for now. I expect in a few months the 'high capacity' ones will be out.
I'm a PowerA convert myself, especially now they have a series X version and have put an mic mute button on the controller. Nothing more annoying to me than reaching for the headset to mute. In that respect I used to like the old 360 chat headset where at a glance you knew if you were muted or not.

Really? That's pretty sweet. I've been wanting that feature for a while seen as discs are basically just keys nowadays.
