Doesn't this mean you're locked into buying games from the Xbox store only which are always £10+ more expensive that retail stores?

Id assume games will still be buyable from Cd Keys and the likes, so you aren't always locked into the MS/Xbox store.

I haven't bought a physical Xbox game for years, ill be going all digital on the Series X as well.

There, CDKeys, Amazon, Game. Quite a few places sell Xbox digital codes. I can see other places picking up digital keys going forward too, given both Microsoft and Sony have an increased focus on digital this gen. You're right though; CDKeys aside, digital tends to be more expensive.

I think the main intention here though is that you sub to Game Pass and spend most of your time playing games through that.

Agreed on the gamepass bit there. Microsoft will probably do a 2 year sub that contains the console too I bet!

Wonder what the ports are on the back. Will it have the same SSD expansion port as the Series X? I guess it should with it being an all digital console and only 512GB SSD.

Sounds great this, tempted to get one just for the Xbox exclusive games. As long as I can play 1080p at fluid 60FPS I'm happy with that :)
Don’t get your hopes up, there’s no “must have” 60fps mandate, as long as you know that you’re good to go :-)

That £249 series S looks like a steal. Will be interesting to know just how powerful it is though.

It also looks horrendous. What were they thinking with that massive black grill? Makes it look like an old speaker.

Is the Series S really 4TF?

Probably around that.

In terms of pixel count, 1080p has 25% of the pixels of 4K, while 1440p has 44%. The gap in GPU power required to render the same scene will be substantial, as can already be seen in the PC market.

Personally, my expectation is that Series S at 1080p will match the visuals and performance of Series X at 4K. Moving the Series S up to 1440p might involve some compromises in frame rates or visual effects, but relatively few customers are going to be using that resolution any way.

I may well be wrong though. Maybe it's equally capable at 1440p. And maybe I'm underestimating the importance of 1440p + up scaling to 4K. It'll be interesting to see how noticeable the difference is versus native 4K on Series X.

Seems to be 24.99 including game pass ultimate for 24 months or 34.99 for the series X verion over 2 years using all access subscription.

I already pay 10quid for game pass ultimate so prob gonna upgrade it to get one of the consoles as well included. :)

You can get 3 years of gamepass ultimate for under £90 using the brazil xbox gold method.

Thats pretty weak if true :(
not for what it needs to do?

I’ve seen a few comments (one @ the verge) which genuinely stun me for the price point. Also, you shouldn’t be solely focusing on teraflops. Nobody mentions the drastically more powerful CPU? I suspect this will be better than the one-x

I thought the One X was closer to 6TF?

It is.

4 tflops is really poor to be honest. I can see framerates really getting bad by mid - end of the console cycle.

I thought this would at least be the same or a bit better than the One X.
