XCOM : Enemy Unknown - by Firaxis Games - Thread

Regarding the second point, there's a utility called UFOExtender which does a good job of that and allows a lot of other cool features to be added. It needs the 'Collector's Edition' exe, which I *think* is packaged with the Steam version for compatibility but is not used by default.

I can confirm that it does come with the steam version and also that UFOExtender is great!
Lots of optional bug fixes and tweaks, my favourite being the ability to run it in windowed mode :D

Hoping that Firaxis remake delivers!

Just read there's a squad cap of 6 soldiers, that sounds on the low side - hope it doesn't reflect the potential map size!

Whilst I never took more than 8 soldiers on a mission (thinking about it, I don't think I ever took less than 8 soldiers either :p) I don't like the idea that we could be limited to something so low.

I like the idea that should I choose to, I can take 26 people on a mission :p

Exactly, I initially had high hopes but I'm not too sure now.

The small squad system hints at mechanics being 'simplified for the masses'. Of course, I'll cross my fingers otherwise.

I have been waiting for a proper remake of this for a long time! Can't wait and I just pray that it is faithful to the originals.

I'll make a thread when I've got time after getting it. The artwork looks fantastic

It's mentioned in pretty much every X-com thread ;) Neil79's original thread is here. I've played it pretty much since pre-apha when all you could do is the same tactical mission over and over again. In the latest builds there is actually a geoscape and you can shoot stuff down. Research is coming along and the artwork is indeed very nice.
