Gold plated HDMI and DVI cables don't do anything. Digital signals pretty much work or don't and if they don't you replace it with another cable, no need to spend a lot on gold plated nonsense. Only thing worth paying a little extra for when covering large distances is an extra shielded cable to minimize interference.

Yeah I now that, I am in no way saying buy gold plated cause it's a load of old cobblers. I am just saying that the picture (for the link I posted) shows something that isn't the product (at least in my experience).

Mine is due to be delivered on the 10th (according to the FedEx tracking data) but I missed a FedEx delivery (never had anything from FedEx before) so assuming that it arrived a bit early!

I have received my $100 refund from bigcloth. Tbh his service would put most uk sellers to shame. Really helpfull and freindly superb service.

Now lets hope my monitor lasts a bit longer this time..

just taken delivery of an Achieva Shimian Q270 an hooked it up (at work, so briefly, yes I couldn't wait!) to my macbook pro via mini displayport to dual-link dvi adapter and I am blown away by the image!! Going to use it primarily for photo editing and interested to hear of anyone else using a similar set up.

Using the apple or the starlink adaptor? The apple one is notoriously unreliable but if it works for sure with this I will quite likely be making a buy.

Just got my Achieva an hour ago, tried installing it but the light on the power brick lights up green for a whopping 1 second and then turns off. Anyone know where I could buy a replacement power brick ASAP?

Initially it turned off as soon as I connected it to the monitor. After that I disconnected from the monitor and the light was still off. Reconnected the 3 pin prong and wouldn't light up at all. Tried it on several kettle plugs

Ok sounds like the psu is duff. You can buy them on the bay but they are not cheap. Best bet would be to contact the seller and see if they will send a replacement.

How expensive are we talking? Contacted the seller but dunno if they'll get back to me today. I'm tempted to open up the power brick and see if something's gone loose.

I'm seeing prices from the south american river of £10-£20

There are lots of 24V 5A power supplys but finding one with the 4 pin plug for the monitor is tricky.

Don't quote me on this as it could be wrong but if you search for Goodmans LD2050FVT power supply on the River site it is meant to use the same PSU. But this may not be correct. You really need to know which pins are live and earth to be sure...

The PSU should have an internal fuse which could be the problem. It might be worth taking it apart and replacing the fuse if it can be replaced. Maplins will more than likely have one. If it blows again then there is something up with the psu.
Taking the PSU apart is tricky as they are sealed, generally a good knife will get you in and electrical tape will hold it together when finished...
