Yessssss! Now it's good news about the Vulcan..

its a well known fact that it cost's 10 million a year to supply and fly JUST 1 red arrow, and there are 10 of the things (they are good though) so why cant they supply a bit of cash for a piece of history, its beyond me...

Because the Vulcan is turning into a huge money pit. Keeping it flying will cost an amazing amount of money. I wish I could share some pictures with you to prove it, but I fear getting my bottom reamed if I did.

Don't know if anyone's posted this before - but it won't hurt to post it again anyway...

Just found this, they're asking for pledges for donations. Not actual money up front - just pledges. They'll only ask you to honour pledges if they find that they have enough promised to them.

C'mon guys, let's get this lovely aircraft airbourne again....

The best way to pass on that msg would be through chain mail email.

Just put the info in there and what needs to happen and info on the plan and its history and it will be all over the world in just a few days.

Oh just dont forget to say, that if they dont pledge then they will have a bad love life for the next 15 years :p

Lol! You do have a good point there Zip!

Looks like you actually have to print and post the form off to them - seems a little bit of a strange way to do it rather than using an online form, but it has to be worth the little bit of effort it takes...

Damn, the £5 I donated @ RAF Cosfords airshow has been wasted it appears, shame, a great shame. :(

Donate some more, You knwo you want to :D

waste of money. put it in a museum. we should be concentrating on the future not looking back and holding onto the past

I've donated to this project and have been lucky enough to have seen the Vulcan on numerous occasions when it still flew.

Its a magnificent machine, absolutely awesome, and the noise it makes is incredible. :D
This is a great project and well worthy of lottery funding especially when you consider some of the stupid crap that gets funded these days.

I sincerely hope something can be done to save the project and get this outstanding piece of British history back to the sky where it belongs.

To scrap it now would be a travesty.

Sad, sad day indeed.
Beautiful aircraft. Did a tricky job in a tricky time.
A real veteran that deserved to be restored to glory.

So all the Spitfires, Hurricanes, both Lancasters, B17's, B29's, etc etc... should be stuffed in a museum to rot?

Thats not where they belong. Just like classic cars - stick them in a museum to fall apart or drive them?

There's always someone who says this. Don't like to see pieces of history actually doing what they were designed for... the back button is the one that looks a bit like.

Bye bye.

Very sad, used to be the star of the show at an air display show in Anglesey my parents used to take me to when i was younger.

I saw one at the Abbotsford Air show in British Columbia Canada MANY years ago.

It was sincerely SPOOKY for the announcer to have to tell us that the plane was coming in from the south (right) because it was almost completely SILENT when on approach!!

Then when it flew past (with the bomb bay doors open) it throttled back up and there was such an AWESOME roar from those beautiful engines....

It did several flyby's as the crowd kept looking up at the tower and giving the signal for "one more time around" over and over and over!! Such a unanimous "AWWWWWW" when the announcer said the plane had to go to make it to its next show on time.....

No other plane that day was asked to go around again. Just goes to show that even a bunch of undereducated Canadians can appreciate a good airplane!! :D

Canada what a place... Eh.

It's like a loft appartment over a really good party eh. ;)

When it used to do displays at places like Mildenhall where it could live there for the weekend the take off's were always superb.

Full throttle, the air screaming as it was ripped apart being pulled into the engines, the sheer rumble from it that you felt throught he ground and in your chest more than heard then brake release...

Stars sprinting down the runway and then the nose was up at nearly 70° with a deafining roar until it hit 1500 feet then it levelled out and pretty much went silent as it throttles back at the same time.

Fabulous display.

Also the fact that it could stand up on a wingtip and bank away from the croud very shortly after takeoff as well was pretty impressive. :D

GOODBYE AVRO VULCAN

GOODBYE AVRO VULCAN

yes its true the Vulcan may never be seen in the sky ever again :(

this is my favourite jet fighter and some others said it was aswel in the resent "whats your favourite jet fighter" thread a few weeks back but it is now being taken out of active service since it hasnt been used in combat since 1993.

You linked this thread dude

I was stood on a hill near Coniston with my dad and brother when three Vulcans flew over our heads (1970ish?). We dropped to the ground they were that low. Vulcans and Lightnings were my favourites before the Harrier.
