YouFibre

Netomnia/YouFibre have announced they're rolling out symmetric 50G PON connections at the end of this year, available to users soon. The ADTRAN based tech is a bit bulky and 'new' atm, but still this bodes well. Will 99% of users want or need this? No. Is it nice to have, and will it bump up the lower tiers and push down the pricing on more 'regular' connections? Probably, yes. It'll potentially make 10G the new 1G and allow for basically contention-free service. Nice!

Should I be hopeful that Netomnia are showing as in the "Building Stage" in my postcode to where I live, as they're not literally on my street but closer than they ever have been according to Better Internet Dashboard. Their work has been "Granted", would this still be a long time before any actual work starts? How close does any cabinet need to be for me to more optimistic?

There's no way of telling really, ours was set to be installed after all approvals for about a year, meanwhilst have a friend who's was up and running within a month.

Ok thanks, I like to be optimistic haha. The work started just over a year ago, but was stopped due to the company doing the work for netomnia going into administration. Looks like they may have someone else stepping in to do the work finally, but I like to keep checking in on the netomnia website every once in a while and was pleased to see the change.

They ran fibre down the main road in our town last year then didn't progress any further, now bt is bringing fibre to our area suspect they are just waiting for bt to deal with all the duct problems before they start.

They're normally fairly helpful with updates if you reach out to Netomnia or YouFibre! :)

Yeah I've been in touch with YouFibre before now, seem ok tbh just obviously difficult at their end with lack of updates to say how long. But like so many things, "how longs a piece of string". Could be a long wait.

Looks like brsk and youfibre are merging
Sure I read that was happening earlier this year. It makes really good business sense to have two of the largest Alt-Net providers in the UK to merge, avoids network overlap and allows them to focus there resources and build out and expand their network were it's needed.

Totally agree, certainly good for competition in my area against the likes of VM & BT. More so because of symetrical download/upload, would love that tbh. Hope they get sorted in my area very soon.

They're advertising pretty hard in my area, defo will look into it in a year or so when my BT contract ends.
They paid off my EE contract up to £300 worth looking in as from what I’ve seen so far 900mb up and down and fixed IP for £36 is great. Had mine installed last month and can’t fault it.

I got the same deal for my TalkTalk contract. I've had my connection for almost a year now and it's been great.

99% sure I will switch in Jan when build is finished to 2000/2000 service which will be cheaper than my current BT.

Happy Days!

I'll be doing the same as soon as they're available on my street, I'm with talk talk for internet only so I'll certainly take them up on the buy out of contract. Look forward to it.

Just putting this out there that YouFibre are now running a promotion for You1000. I received an email this morning about it, any referrals made by existing customers for new connections on You1000 each person receives £75 cash back rather than the standard £50.

Ive just switched to youfibre from zen, with just a smidge over £300 owing...how did you go about getting yours refunded? i've emailed [email protected] with my final charges but nothing but an automated reply thus far.

Cant complain about service though, i always struggled to get anywhere near the 900/100 limits on zen even when wired in, High 800s in and out on youfibre....hopefully stays that way!
