Probably is excessive but it's cheaper than I'm paying now by £15 and maybe even a bit more if I get a discount.
Just remember that most NIC's are only 1gbps!

I mean - if 900mb has been OK for you, then why not go for 1000mb at £27.99 and then the static IP taking you to £32.99 and save a little more on the deal? Our BT Contract comes to an end next month. Currently paying £69 for 900mb. Was going to join Zen for 900mb £55 but then I got a letter through my door saying you fibre are in the area.
Signing up to the 2000mb for £55 with a static IP.
Unless there is any reason to not join them?

That's exactly what Ms Junglist would say... But the man-math in my head feels like the £55 is a better deal. Internet go zoom etc.
So your getting 8GB then at the bargain price of £99That's exactly what Ms Junglist would say... But the man-math in my head feels like the £55 is a better deal. Internet go zoom etc.
I got the 1Gb and its so fast already I wouldnt notice if I had a higher package tbh.I stupidly went for the cheaper slower gigabit. Though I've got a few weeks until install to change it to the obvious better choice
Have seen great pings, you are way better off going with YouFibre than an Openreach connection imo. You can get an idea of their peering from here:How is their routing and the latency of the connection (is the latter consistently low)?
Yes, since it's a completely separate FTTP install, you can have them running side by side if you were to switch to Openreach later. Is it easy to switch to Openreach in the future if I need to given they are separate networks
Have seen slightly higher pings with them vs BT/Talktalk/Zen.Aquiss
Will be interesting to see what sort of ping you get up north as they do peer @ LINX Scotland.Todays my installation day between 1pm - 6pm
Aquiss use BTW backhaul so there should be no difference compared to BT.Have seen slightly higher pings with them vs BT/Talktalk/Zen.
Are you with them? They use Enta, this is London pings, on BT/Zen/Talktalk would get 1/2ms:Aquiss use BTW backhaul so there should be no difference compared to BT.

I've already had a call from installer asking if he could possibly come earlier this morning but it wasn't suitable for me unfortunately. Will report back after everything is done and I'm up and running.
Don't think any provider is going to install how your wanting this done, get the service installed to a room where the line is coming in from and get some ethernet to where ever else you want to plonk the router/access point.Unfortunately my install can't go ahead the way I wanted
My house is a timber frame bungalow. I was ideally wanting the fibre run taken up and into my loft then pulled down between my walls to exit in my living room at the same point where my router sits.
The YouFibre engineer (who was great!) said that it couldn't be done my preferred way as they don't have the tools or back boxes to do it (Sales rep told me it would be). He investigated using the existing BT ducting to bring the fibre in but the ducting was cut short and he couldn't see where it finished, he could only see the bare the BT cables after taking the BT Master socket off.
So, I've had to cancel the whole thing. I can't fault the YouFibre engineer, he was great and was ex-openreach and knew his stuff, and agreed with me that he wouldn't want cables clipped around skirting boards and door frames in his own house.
I'm still under contract with TalkTalk until June 2024 anyway. Once I'm out of contract I can get ducting and a draw string system setup to where it needs to go in full preparation for either YouFibre or Openreach full fibre install.

Ive been having this issue if not a similar one. If you dont have a static IP and you use thinkbroadband BQM then the fact its on CGN means you have flawless monitoring and then a wall of red which presents as 100% packet loss even though the setup still works. I'm moving to static and migrating everything away from IPV6 to see if this resolves the problem as wireless is the most problematic. Its not just your typical web based apps, its also streaming that has its moments too and those streaming services are app controlled.I've now been on YouFibre for six weeks and certainly no complaints. I've not noticed any kind of drop-out and I'm still seeing the same 950/950 connection I had at the start.
I have the Arris router and I'm using the WiFi6 from that. Most devices are wired, so wireless just for phones, tablets etc.
What I have noticed is that when on the mobile phone, so apps seem to take a few moments to synchronise. So I'll open Reddit, and there is a delay before that front page refreshes.
I'll hit some newspaper sites via their apps, same again - I'll get place holders for images and then a few moments later everything will refresh.
Not seeing this if I just browse using a browser on my mobiles, tablets etc - just apps.
Is this an issue with CGNAT? I've moved from a Vodafone "Up to 80mb" connection and using a Ubiquity WiFi 4 device and never experienced this before. In my mind two things have changed:
1. I'm behind a CGNAT
2. I'm using WiFi 6
It's not a deal breaker, I mean, having to wait a few seconds for an app to refresh or synchronise is hardly an issue to talk about, but just wondered if anyone was seeing the same, had any ideas.
Would adding a Static IP4 to my service (considering this as I may bring some basic hosting "in house" so to speak) likely to resolve that I'm seeing?
Cheers all.
