Your bad driving encounters

Had a weird one on Friday as the Nissan in front of me went right on a large clear and easy to see all traffic from every direction big roundabout a large crew cab pickup just drives straight out from his left hand lane onto the roundabout and almost drives into the Nissan, she manages to swerve around him and now I am alongside the guy in the pickup as he just looks at me and then drives right across the front of me and goes right with no indicators and almost takes me out as well.
Looked at it a few times from the dashcam and he is around 45 years of age and looks completely off his face.

Does your local police force have the upload traffic footage thing?

Sometimes I wish it was supported here in N. Ireland because I would take great pride dobbing in some of the dangerous clowns. These people can and do cause deaths and serious injuries on the roads. There’s no such thing as being a nark in these cases.

The way things are going at the moment, I'd rather have nothing to do with the police.

Post the footage, you know you want to. :D

lol, OK… that says more about you than you think ;)

Not at all what you are thinking, but cheers ;)

I've had a lack of faith for many years and recent events are not exactly making me think differently.

Please also note I am not a gammon, right wing or drink Stella ;) and have included a lefty papers report below.

Thanks for taking my post in good humour, I know exactly why you mean. Going about 16 years back now but one very early morning at about 2am on the M1 towards Belfast, a car started tailgating me at 70mph. We were literally the only two cars on the motorway, so this seemed odd. My first thought was to speed up, but I elected to do the more sensible thing and just engine brake slightly to reduce speed. Down to 65, they sat there, down to 60 and they sat there. Eventually with me at 50mph they went around me and I thought what a knob.

It was a fully marked police car and obviously I could not tell until this point as their headlights in my rear view mirror dazzled me. They were trying to goad me into speeding just for the lols.

I was unsure if a pop or not tbh :D

I've sent you a PM and there is no need to reply, but it just briefly explains my slight lack of faith in the police and posting there avoids the forum pickers that then spend their time calling you out for this or that

Is it just me or does it seem to be an increasing problem where people on multiple lane carriageways (so 2+ lanes going in the same direction) either dont take into account, or just plain dont care about, the speed of cars already in the lane when they choose to pull out?

Multiple times in the last few days I have been travelling along in lane 2 or 3 (staying within the speed limits and/or the speed of the traffic if a little heavy) and a driver in the lane to the left (so lane 1 or 2) decided they are going to just pull across causing me to have to brake, sometimes heavily, to avoid ending up hitting them?

Sometimes they do put their indicators on but it come son at the same time they move as if that's their get out clause "well I had my indicator on". Yes, you did, but it came on at the same time you turned your wheel FFS!

I've decided that, on my way home from work today, I am going to be one of those people - you know, the people that just drive in a daydream as if no-one else is on the road and I just do whatever the **** I want with no care to who or what is about me... They will need to accomodate me!!... (I probably wont though )

I just needed a rant :p

On the back of the above... an example of what happened this morning and, yes, i will admit to be a dick at the end but hear me out.

Travelling along in lane 2 of a 2 lane carriageway leaving a good reaction gap to the car in front. The car in lane 1 then decides that she wants to move into lane 2 without any consideration of the speed differences. She moves over, right in front of me and fails to speed up which means that I am now about 4 feet from her car as she moves across (no indicator BTW). So me being annoyed decided that, if she thinks moving over into a space that left me 4 feet from her bumper is plenty of room for her to go into, I decide to maintain this same gap (I did say I was also a bit of a dick at the sstart of this post :p)

Cue her getting all irate at me being so close to her... Sorry but you deemed the space that we have between our cars to be sufficient to allow you to move lanes and now suddenly the same space is not enough to have? You cant have it both ways

Anyways, I got given the finger when I eventually passed her after she moved back over which made me laugh

I did attempt to berate myself over the slight tailgating I played a part in but I realised I just didnt give a flying **** :o

I had something similar a while ago...I then ended up in the back of the guy because he needed to drop anchor.

I now have a word with myself when I can feel my pettiness levels rising because I can't afford it :o :D

Obviously dunno who was driving it but following a single occupant driving instructor's car today with pretty sloppy driving, no lights on when the conditions closed in and tailgating a bus so closely the driver dropped down to 20, indicated their displeasure and when they still didn't get the hint eventually pulled over, on a bend which wasn't great, so they'd pass.

Driving instructors are equal to taxi drivers in regards to poor driving.

Nearly 8 years ago, the day my daughter was born, I was hospitalised by a driving instructor.

I'd popped home for some things that we'd forgotten to take with us on the panic run to the hospital. We lived a 5min walk away so I took the car home and decided to walk back, a decision that was my undoing.

Got to the crossing, waited for the green man and crossed. The DI, late for a learner decided that the red light didn't apply and hit me. I was only in hospital for 2 days, Concussion and bruising but nothing broken.

DI pleaded guilty to dangerous driving & got 12mths inside (out in 7) & 2 year ban.

Last night at 23:45 I passed Stafford services South bound to see headlights coming towards me on the service slip road about 50 metres away from the motorway.
I'm not sure how you can get that confused in a service area!!!
Didn't see if they decided to come out onto the motorway, there was plenty of traffic heading south though.

Had a look at their social media and looked like the driver but I didn't get a clear enough look at them to be sure, wouldn't surprise me though.

Oh the best bit "Before beginning my career as a driving instructor, I was a taxi driver". Aside from how close they were up behind the bus it wasn't the worst driving ever but certainly not the standard I'd expect from someone who has every reason to know better.

Taxis often tailgate close here to avoid bus gate cameras as there are a couple that even taxis aren't allowed through but they're all front plate readers so they sit under the tail to avoid being caught.

Out driving just now torrential rain, reduced visibility, lots of standing water, car tailgating me... I dunno how incredibly stupid you have to be to do that, bad enough normally but in those conditions that is a really special level of dumb.

Some of the driving I’ve seen today (and this week) makes me think there should be mandatory re-tests every 5 years.

Thought this was just a down South thing but finally saw a murdered out black Merc CLA weaving between car on a motorway at 70mph. This was at 11am too, not late at night.

Where did it get him? Nowhere because there was a queue in all lanes probably half a mile later.

Honestly, I’m at risk of injuring my neck from all of the head shaking I’ve been doing this week while driving.
