Your bad driving encounters

you can hear the tyres squeal at the end where he skids into the road on the right.

LOL he/she barely held it on that last corner and it wasn't even a difficult manoeuvre, not that people should be driving like that in those conditions but especially not if they don't have the skill to go with it. Possibly they had some kind of emergency but I doubt it - probably forgot something mundane and had to go back to get it and were late for work :s

I'm still shaking from an incident 15 minutes ago.
I've had a load of close ones on my bike but this time as a pedestrian, if I had stepped forward even 3 inches I'd either be dead or in A&E.

I was on the pavement walking past that 'Backsies' as we call them in Stoke, I had a glance, walked on and a car was tearing up them and the mirror hit me in the arm causing major damage to it.
I obviously screamed because I thought they had broke my arm, car stopped, woman passenger then starts screaming at me, I said a few things and told them to FO because I realised the loud crack was their mirror.
I limped off (false knee) and the woman shouts "Looks like you've already been in accident".
I said "Enjoy the cost of a new mirror".

Should have gotten the reg. That's a hit and run.

Ahh, just had the most satisfying drive back from the shops. I was in my Mrs' lardy arse Kia Sportage 1.6ltr diesel.

Driving along at 30mph, in a 30 limit and in my rear view mirror I can see some tiny Seat (assume it's Seat's version of the VW Polo, if they have one) coming up behind me at a rate of knots. He sits right on my bumper, can't even see any of his bonnet in my rear view mirror.

So off the accelerator I come and start driving at 20mph, lots of traffic coming the opposite way so he can't overtake and I had much enjoyment giving way at a roundabout I could have easily have made, without causing any inconvenience to the person about to enter to my right. Followed by a pedestrian crossing that again, I could have made as the guy approaching was still 5 yards away or more when I stopped.

In a taxi, single file traffic due to parked cars, already in the gap. Builders van hurtles toward us, stops because it can’t fit. Then winds down the window getting all shirty. He was even less happy when I waved my hand at him to jog on as he drove passed :D. It’s always the tiny guys in cars who seem to get the most angry, always makes me lol.

Builders vans are one of the worst for tailgating.

If all the giants learnt to drive us midgets wouldn't have to get angry :D

40mph dual carriageway, 11ton bus at speed.

Van pulls out from side road, crossing 3 lanes and median, into my lane. Spotted it and began adjusting my speed as to give it a bit of space to gain speed, van stops dead then indicates to turning another side road. Managed to move over, harshly, into lane 2. Thankfully no other vehicles around.

Driver reported to our police liasion who viewed the footage, TOR issued and posted, Driving without due care. Given it involved PCV it's unlikely he'll be offered a driving course and straight to points and fine.

I had a very angry bus driver the other day :s I don't think he realised his rear indicator wasn't working so I didn't see he was trying to pull out until I was in a position to see the front side one.

How old was the bus? Oldest we have is an 04 and they're all equipped with CANBUS type systems for external lights (except side markers). It's classed as PG9 (unroadworthy) if a rear one isn't working, though we can continue to next terminus if a front/side one goes. For that reason all of our vehicles have had LED conversions done on the rear for longevity and there are 4 separate arrays in the units so if one fails there's still others

No idea - but they are all ADL Enviro200 on that run with YX58 plates.

EDIT: 2009 bus. He definitely didn't seem to be aware of the lack of rear indicator working however.

Strange as ADLs of that era have a telltale on the dash, a bulb with an ! inside the globe for exterior lights, they're also LED from factory. Chances are he just wasn't paying attention to his instruments.

Possible it happened to go at that moment - I'd imagine like the van drivers at work they have to do walk around checks, etc. when starting a run as well as what might be on the dash - though knowing the drivers at work it isn't always done thoroughly. So in theory probably was working at the start of the shift.

True enough. My last breakdown, managed to shear the aux belt tensioner clean off the block, but the belt survived.
