your commute

just over an hour door to door each way. it's not too bad.

will be moving soon which means i will be on a different line and longer to get to the station, quicker train and then walk to the office instead of the tube, it will probably work out the same :D

65-90mins depending on how the trains are running/how long I have to wait for buses etc.

Route to work =
Walk from home to bus stop
Bus to station
Fast train from Orpington to London Bridge (one of the few perks of starting at 8am, although I've never got a seat).
Walk down to the Underground
Jubilee Line to Canning Town (5 stops, if I don't get a seat initially, I always get one once we get to Canary Wharf as 90% of the Tube get off there)
DLR to East India (1 stop)
Short walk into work

Not the worst, but not the best. The journey there is almost always quicker than the journey back. I work 12 hour days though so I avoid the rush hour home as I finish at 8 (although I get all the 'stayed behind for a drink' people), and the 3-4 days a week I'm at work are solely work days and means I do nothing except wake up, go to work, go home, go to bed, then I have anywhere between 4-6 days off to do whatever I want. Works out alright I suppose. When I'm doing nights it's an easy journey both ways except for the Tube into work as you have a combination of people who're coming home from work and people going to the O2, so it can get stupidly full.

About 5 minutes on foot, now :D

Back when I was commuting from Brid, it was 15 minutes to the station (45 if I walked), 45ish minutes on the train, then 15 minutes walk to uni. Not fun, but at least I didn't have to be in for 9am at any point.

Currently doing 40 mins door to door: islington -> waterloo

Got a possible job in West London paying extra £130pd, but it would add another ~30mins to my commute. Still unsure whether to go for it or not...

A commute of 1 hr 10 minutes is far from ridiculous redeye_uk!

Indeed, especially as it's worth another £2600 /month or £31200 /year for you.

5 minutes walk each way!

Used to live further out and bike in, 30km there and back and really enjoyed it.

Now it's about 15mins drive from my flat to work (Cambridge)

Before that it was 45mins/1hour each way. Put up with it for about 8 months until I saved enough to buy a flat. I could probably live with the longer commute again, but being just 15mins away has positively effected my energy levels etc.

7 miles either way by car for me. About 15 minutes on a traffic free good run, or 25 mins with poor traffic.

As said above a few times, I wouldn't consider over an hour commute without having some very good perks from the job, e.g. A high salary :P

1 hour and 15 mins drive to Manchester airport. 1 hour flight to Aberdeen. 1 hour helicopter flight out to the platform. Done twice in 5 weeks. I so don't miss driving to and from work every day.

Mine is about 10 mins to work. Uni ranges from 30 mins to an hour depending on traffic, usually i'll run into an old todger who decides 40 is plenty in a 60 zone. Eugh, I overtake a good 5-6 times per trip, not because im flying, because other people are incapable of driving at a the speed limit! Does my head in.

Where on earth are some of you working?

How is it that some of you fan simply walk down some stairs, take a two min walk and then arrive at work....

No neither - Auckland is not designed for cyclists at all and it's hilly as crap.

I take 25 mins to cycle from Clapham to my office - totally sweet way to start the day and great to wind down at the end but then London is a bit friendlier to cyclists.

What way do you take into London? I use the cycle highway to Stockwell then break off to the left and go over Vauxhall bridge-White Hall-trafalgar sq-Tottenham Court Road-Camden it's quite a nice ride if its not raining :D

Ten minutes brisk walk for me. I'd want a lot of money to even consider spending 4 hours a day just going to and from work. It wouldn't be so bad on a train because I could read, but there's still the expense of travelling to consider.

Depends on where i'm working.

If it's my full time job - Leave home at 0620hrs, at work for 0735hrs with a Stop at the local shop

Part time. It's a commute to Birmingham (Hobmoor Road Ambulance Sta) so about 30 Mins from Dudley.

My voluntary stuff back at my Rents.. about 40 mins.

9.2mile commute each way - takes 35-45 mins in the car or 30 mins by cycle.

Couldn't do a long commute - I value my family time too much - I'd rather take a lower paid local job than spend time away from my family.
