I bet the migrant boats would suddenly stop if they were at risk of having to go and fight though
They would be ******* themselves laughing when some washed up barracks army bro tries to give them an order Get a grip mate normal people find the army hilarious, we make video games and movies out of it.Absolutely, a spotty 18-25 year will stand zero chance against a hard assed 35 year staff sergeant with a few tours under his belt I dare say some of them will stay in as well for a good few years as once you are over the initial 6 month of being bullied, harassed, indoctrinated, brain wiped it is a bloody good life and one of the best things I ever did. Hell you could go German way where they end up being ambulance drivers. If your a fatty then you get put in the fatty battalion/regiment and welcome to a world of more exercise than your used to. Better for you, better for the country in the long run.
As for those with an apparent conflict of interest, then GTFO and your on a plane to your homeland. We gave you a education for free so deal with it.

Britons face call-up to armed forces if UK goes to war with Russia, army chief says
British men and women should be prepared for a “whole-of-nation undertaking” if Nato goes to war with Russia, warns the head of the British armywww.independent.co.uk
The story doing the rounds today is if the UK is involved in a future war the public might be required to join the armed forces.
What are peoples views on it?
I think in the event Russia attacked other European countries then I'd do my part, as it's a rerun of the start of WW2 when Hitler took over Czechslovakia, and then attacked Poland. We'd be in the firing line anyway.
I think this is a signal that we should be having a national service like they do in Nordic countries.
We have learned enough in recent decades about the outright lies governments make in order to purse regime changes for wrongful reasons.
Iraq, Libya, Syria.
Constantly getting countries into NATO to surround Russia.
Since 2004 - Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia
Nobody wants to fight for UK provoking foreign wars.
Nobody wants to fight when its majority demographic are constantly prejudiced against, positive discrimination in jobs which is rife everywhere.
There is no patriotic belonging here now which you would need to rely on when trying to get civilians to fight for your country. You have continually eroded away national identity and you reap what you sow.
At best, I'd be in the new version of Dad's Army.....
Ignoring Ukraine Russia right now has somewhere around 300K ground forces, a few 100 modern(ish) tanks, probably 2-2.5K serviceable armoured fighting vehicles, something of an air force but crippled by years of poor maintenance and lacking investment, most of their war reserves and stockpiles have been used up in Ukraine, etc. etc. they are barely sufficient to defend Russia let alone go on the offensive.
I hope if we do get involved in a conflict Putin realises we will be invading Russia...and we're used to crap weather.
No mate, they would still continue to cross the channel in unsafe little boats illegally.
Just the other way.
Iraq, Libya, Syria.
Constantly getting countries into NATO to surround Russia.
Nobody wants to fight for UK provoking foreign wars.

“The best argument against Democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.”
No attribution. Though he sometimes despaired of democracy’s slowness to act for its preservation, Churchill had a more positive attitude towards the average voter.
