I did an upgrade recently and I am older, but was v excited I have to say. But I know exactly what you mean about the old days.I can remember the days you would be jealous of people having a faster cpu than yourself, because in the 90s and early 2000's memory and cpu clockspeed made a huge difference for gaming. It was like being able to run a game or not.. I use to love those days where you were really excited about upgrading, but nowadays I dont know if its because Im older, but I dont really get excited about upgrading anymore?
