Found my dracula goby on the floor when i came in just now. Happy christmas to
Me :(

Off to buy a net top and a relacement goby tomorrow in the sales i think.

Lucky advanced aquarium aquatics is only a walk away so can skip the nightmare traffic round here.

Sorry to hear that mate. My next tank will have a lid as I think the net spoils the look of open top tanks.

I miss going to AAC, their sps frags are the best in the country!

I think its gonna have to be a necessary evil, ive lost a couple of fish now to jumping and i dont plan on replacing my tank at any point

Lids create thier own set of problems with overheating and reduced lighting options etx

That's very true, a pelmet and net would be a good option on a custom made tank. But in this house i'd also have problems with condensation with an open top tank. Not that a new tank is a possibility yet.

Up to you mate but no where near as good looking as a custom polycarbonate one.

Took your advice and ordered one from
Reeftops, watched a few vids for the red sea one and cannot be bothered with the grief of making it.

Why on earth they dont provide a readymade one for thier own tanks is beyond understanding

random query guys.

Any personal recommendations for a good fert/ supplinent for anubias nana / java fern? seems like my anubias is struggling a bit with some form of deficiancy in its old leaves. thought it might have been iron so adjusted my fert a few weeks back but its still progressing.

have another one lined up (easy life pro fito) but figured id ask incase any one has some food first hand experience

That could make it worse if there isn't enough NPK and micro's.

I would recommend anything that is a complete fertiliser that includes NPK and Micro's. Many are just the Micro's which is why you can easily run into difficulties when using them (*Cough* Seachem Flourish).

All of these are fine:
Evolution Aqua - The Aquascaper Complete Plant Food (500ml, £12)
TNC - Complete (1L, £16)
Tropica - Specialised Nutrition Aquarium Plant Food (300ml, £9) (its the green one not the orange/brown one)

Could agree with the excell making things worse issue as above

I dosed excel for a year solid (Auto doser) i had major major die off in some plants i couldn't work out why. Turns out they was just wrecking my nutrients in the water to the point it became too clean and they wanted nasty tap water top ups to actually get some minerals to continue to grow. I did debate putting excel back in my doser and running with some Micro's/macros too but for all the effort to speed my growth up i stopped autodosing entirely and let it just take its own course.

Meanwhile in my reef.. Nothing going on much :') Moved from messy rowaphos back to seachems phosguard and my tank hasn't looked better :D My sand is WHITE. Rowaphos just didnt seem to work effeciently enough for my system maybe my tumbling of it was too harsh i don't know but even on slowest speeds it did the removal was poor. My nem is doing well as usual hes huge now (hes so big he cant even fully retract back into his own foot at night i still see a load of tenticles sticking out 2-3 inches) i want him to split but he doesnt seem interested in actually splitting and i won't force him to either so as long as hes happy i know im doing okay :) I keep looking at making my mp10 anemone proof with a printed 3d cage (ebay) but the sponge is working fine for now if i remember to clean it

The trouble with selling their own with these type of tanks is everyone has different lighting setups for the cut outs for the brackets.

Bought myself a nyos torq reactor carbon and rowa in one :)

Just googled that looks like a good idea with the built in pump.

Have been running my tank with nothing othrer than waterchanges, the clarisea and a skimmer since setting it back up. Not having any algee problems or nutrient deficiencies etc. The kiss method seems to be working for me.

Dont have any demanding corals tho to be fair, just some nems and a couple of lps that are doing really well

Curious to see what you think of the nyos after using it for abit. I was tempted but sad to see the smallest chamber is only single media and I'd need the middle sized one to make use of dual media's
