Your current Fish tank Setups!

Cheers for the feedback on the fake plants. I'll just have to start out slowly then with the live plants and go with something that grows slowly so can manage it better.

I think you may be better off with easy fast growing plants. Slow growing plants like anubias are easy to keep alive but also extremely easy to get completely covered in thick black algae.

I have some called Tropica Hygrophila in mine and they are growing like crazy, one is almost up to the surface already. I do add plant food to the tank though. They get a few spots of algae on them but the shrimps take care of that.

Vallisneria spiralis "Red" are a quick growing background plant insanely quick if you inject c02, i chucked mine as i wanted to try something different now i wished had kept some, i agree with the slow growing plants my anubias plants have been hammed by brown algae :(

Never bought any fish by post, I always like to see them first and check nothing else in the same tank has nasty diseases etc.

Amanos are about 2" long, they won't get eaten unless you have some very big fish.

My amanos deal with all algaes without issue it's all they live off really as I rarely see them running off with another fishes or plecos food
there are some kinds they wont deal with, some kind of brown algae that grows on my anubias goes untouched by them. I have my horned nerites snails to deal with that though. Saw some one mentioning nerite eggs previously and I don't know if it's my water conditions or the horned nerites specifically but I have yet to have a single egg in 6-7 months. I've had as many as 7 snails at one point so must have had males and females, so if you do want to get nerites, maybe horned nerites. Don't know if anyone else has experienced this.

Got some more Amanos today as I'm going to need more algae cleaners for a Phoenix moss wall I'm going to try and grow. It might fail horribly but my tank really needs a back drop. considered going for 10 or so cherry shrimp but when I eventually add a betta they'd become snacks and I'd have to by another crew in 3-4 months time:(

Could explain my no alage. 3 nerite and 2 amano and an army of cherry reds. Assassins are also very big in population now

Yeah? Might give it a go at some point then. Got my shrimps from my local maiden had aquatics. £4 for a cherry or £5 for an Amano......easy decision based of that I guess.

Ouch, Maidenhead Aquatics are really expensive for shrimp and snails (and some fish).

Pets at home will do Amanos for 2 for £7 and my local has started doing Cherry's 5 for £10.

One of my local local stores has also been doing them for that price for a long time.

Yeah looked at Gumtree earlier. someone selling 15 cherry's for £10 so maybe i will look their when im getting some next time. I suppose the 4 amano for £18 deal at MaidenheadA isnt so bad but for the number of cherries i wanted its insane. Its strange but Reading doesnt really have any local non chain aquatic shops. Theres a pets at home as well but I wont step foot in that branch.

Going around in circles trying to choose what tank to order this week!

Fluval Spec 19L | Fluval Flex 34L | Dennerle 35L | Hugo Kamishi 42L

They all seem to have their positives and negatives. Looking to get some Chili Rasbora or some Green Neon Tetras. Basically some Nano fish along with a simple live plant aquascape.

There is also the larger 55L/57L/60L tanks but worried might be too much upkeep for me and dominate the kitchen too much.

I was all set to get the Dennerle but the gap in the lid worries me about anything creeping in or escaping if I get some Shrimps. Aesthetically it the best of the bunch and allows me to source my own filter and lighting or get their kit set.

The Flex pump flow seems a bit too much from reading things? The styling isn't too bad but prefer the others. The Spec is a neat and small nano setup but might outgrow it quickly and width wise it on par or bigger than the others.

The Hugo seems a neat little setup as led is housed in the lid and allows any pump to be used.

Really want to just order so can start the cycling process and order the hardscaping items and plants as soon as this month's pay hits.

Any last minute pointers or nudge on what tank to get? Thank you...

Fluval spec is a great tank. The filter is massivly overspeced for the tank size and its a very good looking setup

I went through this thread for the Spec for some inspiration. There was some tips in there to reduce the flow to help the nano fish. Some even managed to remove the filter section and install a third party filter but could not see any from the UK.
