Your favourite GTA game ?

San Andreas. I loved the huge map and having 3 big cities to explore. I also liked the rpg elements.

Ditto. I find CJ the most likeable of all the GTA characters, and I love the funny quips he makes when jacking or crashing a car, or when he's in a battle with police etc. The humour in SA is better than in any of the other versions IMO.

I haven't played GTA IV but I can't see me finding the Eastern European character likeable at all. I would also miss many of the elements which were in SA but were not carried over.

Vice City easily (game + main character).

Haven't played enough of IV for it to be even considered yet, though I am expecting it to at least be ahead of every other game bar VC.

I wasn't keen on them going the Eastern European route either at first, but after playing it I do think Niko is a great main character. Don't know if he will overtake Tommy Vercetti, but since I love the whole Italian Mafia scene in general it's not a very fair competition in the first place.

The music is about the only place where I feel IV is considerably behind other versions, but that's only as a result of the game not having an iconic culture to latch onto as VC and SA did.

Just as far as the other versions go - 3 was bland even at the time (Don't think I've finished it to this day). And large as the map was in SA, that map included huge amounts of countryside (ie nothing), 2 cities that were arguably dull, and only 1 city that actually fitted in with the theme of the game.

San Andreas is my fav, with VC in an extreme close second.
I preferred the open spaces of SA and the neat weather effects as well as the large amount of vehicles to use. It felt good to play but wasn't really a large step up from VC.

It's too early for me to mention GTA4 yet because I haven't really got anyway (mid-week releases are daft). I'll play it to death this weekend!

IV.

Story is original hollywood thriller stuff with its own twists and turns rather than VC's blatant parody of the most popular films - the same goes for SA's parodying of Boyz n Da Hood etc.

Niko is a legend too, got his head screwed on and his quips and general banter with the characters are great (and his general dislike of all things american makes him easy to relate too :D)

Saints Row is awful.

must have been that bad you only played it for less than 10mins with your single "Joined the 3rd Street Saints"

LOL

Played it & watched my mate play for a few hours one night, was quite a good laugh but then bought it pre-owned and played it sober, and it was "meh".

Traded it in the next day.

And whats the achievements got to do with anything? You don't get achievements for free roaming.

LOL!

Doesn't mean it's of the same quality as GTA, it's nowhere near infact.

Most people thought it was a great game, and I certainly thought the quality was up there with most other titles.

Bizzare how people who like GTA can think SR is poor when the core gameplay is virtually identical.
