ZMA's a bit of a red herring - the amount they have in caps is not enough to really have significant amount of effects. Also the dosage ratios are all over the place.

I've heard lots of good things about ZMA and MP do their own brand at a very decent price that has pretty much the exact same ratios in it. Its called Zinc and Magnesium (Genius name i know!) I thought about giving it a go as its meant to be great for recovery and greater sleep. All of the guys on the MP forums believe its a great supplement.

I must do some more research into it as i've not come across anything thats been said bad about it like Ultra has suggested.

ZMA = Zinc and Magnesium?!! OMGWTF!!!!! :p

I have to say that the caps that any supplier provides aint' that great, you're better off getting your own mg and zn and doing it yourself if you really need to. Bear in mind that zinc absorption requires copper.

I think Zinc & Magnesium definitely are important. Whether ZMA, with the Zinc & Mag form used in that blend, is as good as separate good quality zinc & mag supps is open to debate. My opinion would be that it is not.

Also, most people need more than 30mg of zinc; or they do until levels are back to where they should be.

Magnesium is always high for due to it's cortisol lowering abilities. So PWO and in the evening.

Just got a big batch from BSD

Got their Ultimate Protein Blend in chocolate, banana and strawberry. So far tried choc and straw, man they taste nice even with just water, which is good if i'm gonna do a v-diet soon

Also got a couple of bags of their PWO Recovery complete, but haven't tried that yet.

The PWO Recovery is tasty, I got some last week. I usually just have WMS and Whey, so it's basically the same with a few extra goodies.

OKG is hands down the best supplement I have took in terms of performance. I remember being a little slow to respond, and then laying down on the bench one session and the weights felt much lighter, and I was able to push on more than usual over the following two weeks.

Well the MP own brand that is so beautifully named has the following

Amount Per Serving % Daily Value
Zinc (as zinc l-monomethionine) 30 mg 200%
Magnesium (as magnesium aspartate) 450 mg 112.5%
Vitamin B6 (as pyrodoxine hydrochloride) 11 mg 525%
Copper (as copper amino acid chelate) 1.5 mg *

As a dietary supplement, men take 3 capsules (women take 2 capsules) daily, preferably on an empty stomach, 30-60 minutes before bedtime. For best results, avoid taking with dairy or other calcium-containing foods or supplements.

The actual branded ZMA doesn't come with copper, but most multi vitamins already have copper in them if i'm not mistaken.

I think in the next week or two i might put in an order for a month or two's supply of the own brand ZMA and see how it goes. Its not going to break the bank at just over £5.31 per month if you bulk buy.

I've got to say I tried taking ZMA when I first started going to the gym and it deffinately seemed to help with my sleep but tbh now I've cleaned my diet up, cut out alcohol etc and started training harder and more regularly it makes no difference.

Quick question for FF I take it MP codes arnt allowed in sigs as mine has been removed?

I forgot to add I always have a few boxes of the CNP flapjacks knocking around.

One in the car and one in the office, always handy when something comes up and you need a quick fix.

Yes and I've given you some of my favourites too. So don't get all melodramatic on me :)

If you read it as being melodramatic, that's your problem, I wasn't being.
Supplements only 'supplement' my diet where and when I cannot eat my six meals a day. For instance, if I have all day site visits, client visits or 4 hour meetings the suits love so much, I can just chug down a protein shake with a scoop of glutamine to tie me over to my next solid meal.

That's good, that's the way it should be, which is why I highlighted and agreed with the other post that was being made about such a thing, so that anyone else reading this thread understands or realises this.

Favourite supplements for me are the bulk whey protein from my protein, and im a big fan of the choclate biotest surge, I use that during and after training and its the best tasting supplement ive ever had.

i use total MRP from myprotein.co.uk its a great mrp shake i have it for brekkie and lunch with their ultimate whey morning and afternoon, its cheap its great and im shedding the pork fast, next goal build the muscles with creapure
