YouTube Premium

We were already in a family from India so not had to try adding anyone.
I do use a burner account as the family host just in case it every gets banned (doubtful now but thought it best when setting up in from India)
I see. I actually tried signing up for the normal UK premium sub and still couldn't share with my family (same error).

I must have messed up my account somehow. They'll have to get their own premium for now. :)

My cut off was yesterday, today I opened the YT music app and it asked me to sign up to active Premium features. I happily signed up for full price, for ad-free watching on my Shield TV, YouTube music and the ability to download playlists to my Garmin Epix 2, it's worth it in my opinion.

I've managed to set up in Krakow University Hospital as they finally canned my payments yesterday. £5.05 is much more reaosnable than bloody £13/14 a month?

SO far ive moved from Buenos aires general hospital to Ukrain to Krakow University Hospital

When I setup the India method, I setup a random google account as the "family manager" and then i invited all of my own accounts to it and then shared the family sub.

Is the best thing to do just close that account down and leave the Google family and then setup a new google account registered in Poland or wherever and then invite the users again to the family to share the sub?

I have mine set up with a 'burner' family manager but I used the same one for India as I did Poland (had enough trouble setting up the Indian account the first time) and the family members were still included in the family so didn't need to re-add them

Interesting, so just wait for India to expire. VPN to Poland as the burner and I should see the option to subscribe and that should restore premium?

Just a heads up for anyone looking to join a family plan who has an android phone and where the family owner is in India...your play store will default to India no matter what, which means you will lose visibility over quite a lot of apps that you may need such as banking etc. This also includes no more updates for these apps.

iOS users would not be affected by this.

Forgot about this, i wanted to move from iPhone to pixel recently and couldn’t download anything as kept defaulting to India. Separate accounts for the win.

I'm now trying to find a way to transfer my YouTube subscriptions/history and YouTube music data to a new account.

Anyone had any joy in doing this?

Not my experience at all.

The family owner is a burner I created in India using Indian VPN and Monzo card.

I then invited several accounts a mix of android and iPhone accounts to it as family members.

My personal android phone/account has not been impacted at all.
When I first signed into YouTube Music it suggested a lot of local music but I copied a playlist from Spotify and left it on loop for 24hrs and then it soon learnt my preferences and it's been great for several years.

Yeah but how long ago was this? It's only recently this has changed.

Now if you wanted to join a family with someone from India as the admin you'd need to join with India VPN which then locks you in to that country

Several years ago. That's odd, I haven't seen that mentioned anywhere?

Yeah I've also had a final eviction notice from my stay at the embassy in India. Went into manage my account and the renewal had been cancelled. I will assess my options for my next abode at the end of December.
