YouTube Premium

Expecting more people to mention this who go this route soon after the influx of workarounds no longer working, plus it's only impacting Android users
My mate just created a burner in Poland, invited his family, none of their androids have defaulted to polish store. If its just an India thing then its not really relevant anyway considering that option is closed down now.

What's everyone's thoughts of YouTube Music?

I'd resigned myself to just dealing with not having Premium anymore, but it occured to me that I'm paying 16 quid a month for a duo Spotify account. I'd never really given YT Music much thought, but it comes bundled with YT Premium...so maybe I should just ditch Spotify and suck up a full price YT Premium subscription instead. I've tried to prepare for a life without YT Premium (switched to Brave browser, already have Smart Tube TV on the Firestick) but I think I will miss it.

I've been using YT Music for my last few days before my Argentinian Premium account has to go and so far, I'm not sure it is any worse than Spotify. Seems to have all the Podcasts I subscribe to, works okay on Android Auto...only thing it doesn't seem to have is audiobooks.
Not exactly the question you were asking, but for reference if you have Amazon Prime, it comes with ad free Amazon music so you could just replace Spotify with that, the upgrade to HD/UHD (high bitrate) is £10 a month extra (or £7 for the first three months), but be warned if you opt for that then afterwards Spotify and YouTube Music will sound like you're listening to a Ferric cassette tape :P

You're missing the point here, the restrictions will be evident depending on app availability across countries.

For example, none of the UK betting apps are available on the India Play Store, which means:

A) I cannot install them
B) I cannot update them if already installed

The same works for banking apps etc from what I found.

So most likely the availability of apps in Poland Store are same in UK store, but I'm not ready to take that risk as things change very quickly and I can't risk an app suddenly becoming outdated due to (B) or if I ever had to (A) again.

i just started paying uk prices the are relying on many not bothering these days.
Same. Tried for several weeks but in the end payed up.

It’s not the adverts but the downloading. My commute via train is a miserable experience beyond web browsing or 240p/360p YT, doesn’t matter the provider. Downloading is a God send and also super convenient.

I’ve just reached that point in my life using mobile browser hacks, add-ons and such that kind-of work but don’t, all abit janky user experience wise. I’ll just pay.
Hell I could even get my old Android phone out and use proper workarounds but since moving to iPhone in don’t really want to use a 2nd phone. Would be different 10 years ago, I’d like nothing more than to stick it to the man.

I find the actual YouTube app unusable now, even if you pay, the actual layout is pretty bad.

I'll either use with adblocker in a browser or smart tube, when it works.

This happened to a lad at work but he stupidly changed his main Gmail account to Argentina instead of the burner so neither him or his partner can access banking apps etc :D I think if you used a burner like I did, that was created using a VPN in another country and then added your main account to the family then it won't affect you...at least it's never affected me

Finally gave up with all the VPN nonsense and just subscribed. Figured I get far more value out of youtube than anything like Netflix, so cancelled Netflix!

After a week of ads when my India sub ended I'm back in!

Created an Indian Apple account, bought an Apple Gift Card from Amazon India, signed into an iPhone with my new Indian apple account, added the funds to my account in the appstore, signed back up to Premium through the YouTube app and back on India again :)
