Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

I got the same with my 2600k mate - it kept giving me the same error on the Auto 4.6 profile (but not on the 4.4 profile). When I changed my chip to the 2700k - that worked fine when on the Auto 4.6 profile so I think thats something more to do with the chips overclocking capabilities than the board.

Hmm that is strange.

Oh I forgot! - one thing you can try is completely resetting the BIOS - not just using the clear CMOS switch or button but to pull the battery and leave it 10-15minutes - sometimes theres a little BIOS corruption (just like all motherboards I've ever had!!) and this will clear it completely.

You can tell when you've done a complete CMOS reset right when you have to set the date and time again ;)

I may give that a go if I dont have any luck playing around with it, I am just wondering whether the auto overclock feature does not give enough volts for a 2600k, also should I be setting my RAM to use XMP? Not exactly sure what this does.

Think you will find as far as volts go - boards generally give more volts than needed for a given overclock, in my experience it is best to set things manually.Find out your cpu base v core at stock and work from there.
As far as memory goes - although XMP can work quite well - it is not always right, again best bet is to set your memorys voltage and timings manually to what they should be - which will be listed on the mem sticks, or check specs on the makers web site. Hope this helps.

no it doesn't.

with 4.6 profile it gives mine 1.250v~ which is to low, this is with everything else at auto...

set the LLC to 4 or 3 to bump up the vcore.

you got 9-10 seconds with 2500k on 4.6ghz? lol...i get around 40 seconds with e8400 at 3.6....so that i can expect with i5 2500k? not shabby :)

got it

2 x 240-pin DDR3 DIMM Slots
(Dual Channel: DDR3_A1, DDR3_B1, Black)
2 x 240-pin DDR3 DIMM Slots
(Dual Channel: DDR3_A2, DDR3_B2, Black)

so for dual

1st left and 2nd right
2nd left and 1st right which is appropiate for those with larger proc cooler, right? :)

Quick question.

When you received your board was it in a sealed bag?

Got mine today and it was not, neither was the box it came in so I'm a bit dubious about it to say the least
