Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

i did when motherboards didn't have flash utilitys in the bios. but using motherboards that have flash utilitys in the biosi don't get nervous

Its something new to me really, I wasn't going to bother doing it but reading the decrease in voltage I went for it. I think its the fact one bad flash is all it takes and no boot or post.

just wish you could backup your bios first, bugs me that i have to reset everything

Yer even the save feature is pointless if it dont stick after an update. Lucky I dont change much anyway, All I do is make sure Hard drives are in AHCI Mode, Set CPU OC profile 4.4 and setup RAM timings and voltage. Dont touch anything else.

I noticed one difference between the newer 2.1 and 2.2 bioses - before I needed to enable PPL Overvoltage enabled in order to be able to boot above 4.6Ghz on my 2700k - now I don't!

I also note I don't get the dreaded dual-boot issue I used to get - taking multiple boots to power up whilst above 4.6Ghz

tbh not noticed any difference between 2.1 and 2.2 though.

the CPU OC 4.6ghz profile still sets my vcore to 1.33-1.35v with spikes even with 2.20 bios....

so i guess i will just keep manuel oc.
multiplier 46
vcore auto
LLC level 3

gives 1.30-1.31v under load.

yes yes yes, i know 16gb is not needed at all....

anyway my pc will run and work like a dream stable as anything with 8gb (2 x 4) however when i add the 2nd set of 8gb it will work on and off with all sorts of strange errors, crashes, blue screens and odd happening.

i have tested each and every stick with mem test and all combinations work fine, its just having 16gb that throws the pc.... Any ideas?

relax the timings ? more voltage... sorry dude im a bit noob with this..

how come it works with 8gb?

i have the right settings in the bios

9-9-9-24 1.65v

It works with 8gb because 4 sticks of RAM are too much strain on the IMC.

try 9-10-9-24 @ 1.65v for example - if that doesnt work try 9-10-10-24 etc.

oh and LtMatt is correct - don't use more than 1.65v for memory on sandybridge setups!

I'd actually try just lower voltages if your 2 sticks were happy at 1.5V before getting extra two.
Try zoomee's suggestion and then revert back to 9-9-9-24 but give them just 1.5V and see what happens.
