I have this "thing" where I write stories in my head when I'm in the shower, doing pots etc. I've been writing a survival novel based on my life - semi-fictional, semi-plan. So...
My immediate weapon of choice is a crowbar. It's the best blunt weapon I have available to me, and would be easy to get to in a pinch. I also have a large metal bar, with one pointed edge for whacking the ground up a bit, prying up roots etc. That might be useful.
I really do not like the idea of knives or swords. I don't know how effective they really are at slicing off limbs or tops of heads in one swoop - are films realistic in that regard?
If I could find one, it would be a mace. It has the blunt trauma I think would be best - no real skill in killing something like a zombie. It also has a bit more range than the crowbar.
My uncle has rifles and shotguns, but whether I'd be able to get them is another matter. And, would I actually be skilled enough to use one? Too noisy - better against humans I would say.
