Southgate really must hate Ben White.

Imagine saying with a straight face that Dier, Maguire, Walker, Trippier, James and TAA are all elite options ahead of him.
White hasnt played cb for Arsenal this season so the players you mean are Trippier, James and Walker. He's gone for his faves basically.

just seen mention that Southgate says he may need to start selecting from "the Championship or elsewhere" in future because of what he claims is the decreasing number of English players in the Premier League, how does that make sense when he won't select players from the prem league ?

Because he's terrible. Funny how he can even make that statement, when some English players play every week in the prem, yet he will select players who have 54 minutes under their belt. The sooner he's gone thr better. Another generation going to be potentially wasted. Who believes we will win a tournament with your squad selected on loyalty and past performances?

Stage of elimination whilst ultimately what goes in the history books is a bit of a flaky judge of performance, England made the WC semis in 2018 but it was actually a pretty poor performance overall. No team lost more games than England in that tournament, and they didn't really beat anyone of note (Tunisia, Panama, Sweden). I thought England were better in WC2022 than WC2018 despite getting knocked out earlier.

QF is a failure whichever way you look at it.

Going to have to disagree with that. It's a knock out competition, based on the draw.

Got knocked out by a far superior team. It just so happened that it was in the QF. Would it really have made that much difference if they got what would have been effectively a by and got knocked out by France in the SF? England aren't a top 4 side in the world. QF is about right if you look at it as a top 8 side.

England were ranked 5th but we know that the rankings are a load of nonsense i.e Belgium being 1st/2nd. I don't recall England being favourites either. Brazil/Argentina were the favourites not odds on though and followed by France.

That's fine, disagree. The bottom line is if you don't win the competition you're a loser.

Southgate is a serial loser.
